My sister emailed me the other day:

a friend wants to know (rightly) where are the best places in nyc to go in case of a zombie outbreak?

My response:

QuoteYour local Duane Reed. Pick up some condoms, cause you're pretty much make the beast with two backsed.

Seriously? Some free-standing, run-down, 3-4 story concrete building with a bodega downstairs. Loot that make the beast with two backser and roll down the metal gates, head upstairs making sure to destroy them after you're up (don't forget the fire escape!), then start filling bathtubs with fresh water. Get to the roof and make some sort of signage out of what you have available so rescuers will know you're in there. The more destroyed staircases between you and the undead, the better, so if you can, try to crowd your party onto the 3 or 4th (or 12th) floor.

Honestly, tho, when the dead start to rise, NYC is boned.

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

I really don't like Woody Harrelson but I do want to see this movie.

I loved Gotcha too. I remember one scene where he keeps asking for Pernot. Literally for years I wanted to try it - and I thought it was crap when I did. Another argument for the fantasy being better than the reality.

Well, for those that were interested.... :-\. Some parts left me  :-X , while others were down right  [laugh] . Thank god it was a renter.

So it's not worth owning?

Cuz I was thinking about buying it (having not seen it) just because the concept has to be too awesome for it to suck.

It's rare that you find a movie that is everything you're expecting it to be, and everything you want it to be, all at once. This movie was both.

The production values are good, the acting is pretty good for what it is, the characters are fun, the story is coherent and original, and the whole thing is just a good time.

Seriously, I give it...

...and plan to buy it soon.

I rented it and I want to buy it now. I had no idea Bill Murray was in it. I wouldnt say its the best zombie movie but its a fun movie to watch.

ID_DUC_MON

Rented it last night. Um, some of it sure could have been better, but it was good. I really dug the slow-motion scenes in the beginning. Really good effects on the blue-ray and 52 inch HD. I liked all the actors except to the young kid. Could have been different and made a better movie.

I was let down though when the kid stole Bill Murray's Harley and then crashed it before the end of the driveway. I guess I was hoping for some bike-mounted zombie killing ala Terminator 2 one handed shot gun action or the chick riding pregnant dog with a machine gun. Heck, if Woody had hopped on the back with double-fisting guns it would have added to the nuttyness of the film.

Kinda like the roller coaster scenes, that rocked.

Scottish

Redboxed it and found it to be better than expected. By better I mean it was more serious than I thought it would be from the previews. Less campy than Woody looked in said previews, decent story, acting as mentioned above was good. I'd buy it if I still bought movies but I cut that expense from my bugdet when I had a kid.

My wife and I laughed our asses off when we saw this in theaters.  I didn't know it was out on dvd yet... will have to go buy it today.
