This weekend I completed the rides for the Saddle Sore 1000 and Bun Burner 1500, with a pretty simple route of SJ to SLC and back to Elko, NV for the 1000, couple hours of sleep, then back to SJ to complete the 1500.  Overall the trip was pretty easy.  The short duration means you don't have to pack much more than emergency tools and a change of clothes.  It should be very approachable for people on Monsters if you're interested in that kind of thing.

Submitting the paperwork this week and should hear back in about 2 months.

I took a couple of the demented Nevada landscape while I was on the bike.  I'll post some up later, but there isn't much to see.  Without 24 hours of podcasts, I'm not sure I would've made it.

A sheepskin?  Definitely helps, along with a Camelback.  The worst piece of gear for the trip were the Dainese D-Dry pants I had on.  I'm going to see if the D Store will take them back - they're don't have enough fabric for a seated position on my bike.

Starting out early Saturday morning on 680:

Some early Nevada scenery:

I remember going through this tunnel eastbound, but  I have no idea if I went through it westbound:

Utah, passing the Salt Flats:

More Utah, nearing SLC:

Day 2, heading back through NV.  Wide open stretches of highway make it easy to sustain triple-digit speeds for quite a while:

Overall a pretty boring ride.  I ran into a few other people on similar runs, including two people I met in Vamly, NV taking dirt from Missouri to Portland.

Hopefully the IBA certifies my ride because I'm not really motivated to do it again anytime soon.  I might consider a border-to-border (http://www.ironbutt.com/ridecerts/getdocument.cfm?DocID=21)run or a 50CC (http://www.ironbutt.com/ridecerts/getdocument.cfm?DocID=4) next year.
