Wouldn't fat air be easier to disappear into?

Major update:

Got a call from Mason's mom this morning saying he was mouthing words and sentences, and actually asking the nurse to stop pinching him because it hurt. Packed up my yard sale and zoomed to the hospital.

While I was visiting him, he kept squeezing my hand, stoking it with his thumb. His tracking was a little better, and he was definitely focusing more now than he was last time. We weren't able to decipher all the things he was trying to say, but some of it we could make out:

"I'm sorry"

"I love you"

"Oh yes" (after being asked if he needed a bottle of Crown Royal  [laugh])

He still isn't classified as "awake" but he is getting there. There are ten levels of comatose, and he is currently a level 3 with 1 being completely incapacitated with no responses to any outside stimulation. So we have a long way to go but I'd say he's gone up a level or two in just the past few days.

Thanks again everyone for all your good thoughts, they have obviously helped!!!!

Excellent news!!   [clap]

His brain is obviously smart enough to take its time in coming back online after being jarred, so IMHO, it should be viewed as a  good thing that he's taking his time doing so.

He, as any fellow rider who goes down, will be in my thoughts... Godspeed Mason!!   :)

That is great news!!!  My neighbors buddy Al went down last year and had a very similar sounding brain injury.. It has taken time, but I am happy to report that he is close to 95% of where he was pre accident.  Support and understanding are key here.  Al would say things that made absolutely no sense at all, but everyone would be like "Thats great Al!"  He would smile and nod.. it was almost like he knew what he was saying didnt make sense, but at least he was talking.  So, prayers being sent your friends way... with the love and support of great friends and family, he will fare as well as Al or better..
