I'm sorry ... that's just make the beast with two backsed up!

Seriously I couldn't find a cleaner front cylinder/head thingy on the factory tour ... I shit you not.

OCD ... bullshit, its well past that [laugh] [cheeky]

I'm aiming for gold at the 2020 Concours d'Elegance.

I think if you bring it along for the Concourse on 20th Sept you'll win something.
I'll vote for it being best OCD rider/owner!

It is very very clean, but I'm most likely jealous that mine isn't as clean.
I am trying though, will be at the auto store tomorrow buying products and brushes from 1.5mm-25mm

I'm with betty on this subject.. you guys have far too much time on your hands ..

fark I don't even have time to ride it at the moment, let alone clean it....

Spider

I do like a nice shiny drivetrain...but that comes from the cycling background where clean = quiet and fast and accurate shifting

I mr sheen the 3 bits

I try and paint my engine black - pre-emptive strike against grime, same with black or charcoal wheels.

Doesn't take long to get a 80 to 90% clean....it's the extra 10% for concourse that takes hours!

Don't listen to 'em Six - OCD cleaning rules. I will happily while away an hour or two in the garage gratuitously cleaning some part or other. Each to his own... [thumbsup]

Probably two stupid questions here....
1) With the Barry Sheen on the rims, can you spray it on and then hose off with water?  I have found in the past that it can be a PITA to wipe off with a rag?
2) The Meguiars wax is OK to use on plastic (i.e. the moster tank)?

I have to clean my babe for the first time this weekend, and I am a little cautious as to what I should use.  Reading on another thread the septics were raving about 'pledge' for the whole bike (tank, wheels, frame), but I am not sure what our equivalent here would be, and/or if there is a better option?

Cheers
Paul

Hi Paul,

Firstly welcome along, do pop into the introduce yourself thread and give us your details.
Personally I use CT-20 truck wash for the whole bike. Then two chamios for the different areas of the bike.
I quick once over with the Meguirars quick wax, used to be called final inspection.
Run around the wheels with bug & tar remover and I'm done in about an hour.

Happy cleaning.

Hey Paul it ain't rocket science ;)

The main thing is to clean it.
and not with strong alkaline soaps.
Must be some sort of car wash

And every one has there own proven methods and products.
As for pledge or mr sheen all clean good but i am  not sure on there long term protection quality's out in the UV(sun)and water resistance.

As my son has a part time job at autobarn helps as we get to try allot of products.
Due to the drought there have been some good water saving
car cleaners hydro shine to name one, which i have used for cleaning the monster.

The best one is Bowdens body detail in a pump 750ml spray http://www.bowdensown.com.au/premium-car-carealternative to washing in water, and if the bike is not covered in mud.
(cleans enhances gloss,UV shield, anti static, repells dust)Can be used on all surfaces.I clean the engine, wheels the whole bike with the stuff

Meguiar's ultimate quick wax is new out and found it very good on the tank.

Looks like Mattys onto the  Ultimate Quick wax as well ;)
