These guys are really going to come down on us now for stealing their local board!  I got mine years ago with a vague idea about an epochal (?) trip over the Bering Straits, past Lake Baikal and on to who knows where.  Then I got stuck one day 30 miles from home due to an electrical glitch and sort of lost enthusiasm.  I have Touratech bags and an updated exhaust but other than that it's fairly stock.

Mine is 100% stock ... well, except for the coils and some wiring, i throw away those crappy MotoPlatt coils and put in Dynas.  I also cored the factory LaFranconi exhaust setup and had it coated.  I found a SuperTrapp setup later that fits the can and now I can put a bit of sound arresting which doesn't need a rejet.

is yours blue/white or red/white?

there was a Luck Strike 750 up for auction a while back, I just drooled.
Check out my oil filter forensics thread!                     Offended? Click here
"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Mine is the blue and white version.  Sounds like we followed very similar paths.  I made my own "Y" two-into-one pipe adapter and installed a Supertrapp muffler.  Saved a few pounds over the stock muffler.  I have a couple of Dyna coils but haven't put them on yet.  I also bought one of the Igni-tech ignition modules, but it too is still on the shelf.  Also added a fork brace which helped a lot with higher speed stability.  The high front fender grabbing the wind doesn't affect the handling near as much with the fork brace.  I coveted one of the larger tanks for years but never got one.  I even bought a wrecked stock tank thinking I'd modify it to hold more fuel but it's still on the shelf too.  All in all it's a fun bike to ride and I should ride it more.

Wait just a doggone minute now!! I vote this one of the most outrageously thread jacked threads on this board. As much as we are all Ducatistas and like hearing about all sorts of Ducs this just so happens to be our little corner to piss in. I'm amazed that you two guys even have running 1986 Elefants much less find out that the two of you are reading this thread and have the same bikes. Don't take this the wrong way & think that I'm being unfriendly  [beer] [beer] but jeez, just the same........... you know?  ;D
No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.

If you only had a clue what door you just opened with that statement.   8)

It's all good though.  Your Elefant reads were mildly interesting.  ;)
