"So why did you decide on the Monster, mate?"

And you reply with, "A herd of psychadelic squirrels made me do it."

And he busts out in a belly laugh and says, "Yup, you are definitely a Ducati owner, mate."

Should I be offended or should I be honored?

[cheeky]

He has an old beat down BSA that he rides to work everyday that has 10000000x the personality of my Duc.

He gets it.

The 4 Harley owners here...

They don't.

What you are all missing is the true meaning of the acronym BSA.

Many think it's British Small Arms... the company responsible for the manufacture of the motorcycle...

wrong again dear....

It means 'Bastid Stopped Again'

really.     ;D

I would definatley be honored by that comment. But  Iam an odd duck myself
About the same time you're dragging your knees through a series of tight left-right-handers on Sunday afternoon, some guy in white shoes is sweating a 3-foot putt. Go figure.

For a septic tank to be called mate, well, you can't get more honored than that, bloke. I mean the next step is...he could buy you a beer...then...you could probably run for president with those sorts of credentials. This is a big step for you, Oprah hasn't even been called the m word yet, and she's apparently your religious leader.

You're good to go!

when he asks if the bike goes: tell him "mate, it's like shit off a shiny shovel"

he'll fall over in amazement!  [thumbsup]

See, bits of Australian vernacular like that are _designed_ to be ambiguous - if you're the sort of person who'll think it's a compliment, it's a _great_ compliment - if you're the sort of person who takes offense easily, it'll offend you just like you deserve... Either way works just fine  ;D

He actually invited me for beers on Friday...seems we both hang out at the same oddball biker bar (Euro bikes and cafe racers) and have for a few years but since i only go a couple of nights a month and they are usually his "hungover nights" as he called em, we had never met. I did however meet the original owner of my bike...a Kiwi that weighs in at about 275 lbs...
