ManOrAstro-Man?

Is anyone using body armor under their jacket? If so, which brand and model? I'm looking at some from SixSixOne like this:

http://www.sixsixone.com/Catalog_661Moto.aspx?id=ce948f69-2008-4cf2-8cbf-a6ae2f75ea9f&product=560e6388-0cb1-4dbb-8424-e3427821bab7

But it looks like they are made for off road racing. Another question is, what is the difference between the off-road gear and the road gear? Would off-road gear not take the pavement as well as dirt?

i may be wrong, but i think that stuff is for mountain bikers....
dont know how well it would stand up to road rash at MC speeds.

check out Bohn body armor
Never wrestle with pigs. You both get dirty, and the pigs like it...

The body armor type stuff is not designed to hold up against road rash if not protected by leather or textile. Its made to absorb the impact not the slide. But it will still help. Most of it is dirt oriented cause you don't slide very much on dirt and iits not abrasive.

Ive checked out the 616, thore, evs, A*, and by far the best seems to be the T-Pro harness  http://www.johnsonleather.com/Forcefield_Extreme_Harness_Adventure.htm pricey, but i hink its the best. So i bought one.

Do you guys wear body armor under your jackets? I have 2 leather jackets (1 Dainese & 1 Icon) and the shoulder, elbow and back padding on both don't seem strong enough to protect my shoulder, elbows or back during a high speed spill. My leathers fit me pretty snug and well, so my other concern is can you even wear additional body armor under your leathers?

DanTheMan

No. Even most racers locally dont wear any additional armor(other than a chest or back). Every one just uses the standard armor that comes in the off the rack suits.

You can replace the plastic stuff with some T-pro armor. Thats what id do if i was concerned with the stock armor.

What I've done is take the removable armor out of the Jacket and wear a Safety Jacket under my Dainese leather Jacket .

I have a BMW Safety Jacket and a Dainese Safety Jacket and either one has more and better armor than what comes in a leather armored  Jacket alone.

It's often uncomfortable to pull on a leather Jacket over one of these Safety Jackets but for Sport Bike riding you will be in a semi leaning forward position so it works.

I generally only wear the Safety Jacket in cooler weather since it adds extra heat retention so I have a couple of Jackets in a size larger to accommodate the Safety Jackets more comfortably.
