I carry, but its a big liability. Can't in bars, can't have had a drink if its even in my car because it implies i have carried it while drinking, can't in many public venues, can't take it to the court of appeals where i work, can't carry it at the law school, etc etc.

But I agree with carrying in general. But you have to be in fear of your actual life, not just in fear of some bodily harm or harm to property. And you don't shoot to kill, you 'shoot to neutralize the threat'. Also, you don't later go and offer first aid, you let them neutralize out on the pavement while you wait for law enforcement to pay you a visit, confiscate your expensive firearm, and arrest you until they figure out what was going on.

Its a heavy burden on a person to choose to carry. Its not all that much more than choosing to keep a baseball bat in your car, though, or a sizeable pocket knife on your person.

I would never encourage anyone to engage in violence. Never...

I would.

Some people need killin'.   :)

That used to be on the books in TN as a legitimate reason for doing it. He just needed killin'. (has to be the general perception of a large group in the community).

Times have changed. Something about witch hunting and mob mentality.

Good thread I got going here.   ;)
I hadn't seen Metallica in around 13 years I think?
Thirteen years ago, if you didn't get punched, or punch someone else at a thrash metal concert, you probably weren't considered a real headbanger. [bang]
We all grow up; well, except for the morons. Congratulations, Jacob. I believe you showed you have achieved adulthood. [beer]

You could be an idiot like me and buy a 380 pistol and get your CHL.  Now I have a license, pistol and no bullets.

We are taught to be a man and stand our ground, but in today's world, retreat.  There are way more things that can go wrong by fighting and nothing but your pride is damaged in walking away.

I have 3 boxes of 380cal. I bought then for a potential client of mine (long story) - never showed up... you want them?

I remember the Chris Rock routine where he said we should not be worrying about gun control, but each bullet should cost $5,000.  In this way, there would be no innocent bystanders.  That guy must have done something, because there are $40K worth of bullets in him...

Yep the .380 dried up fast! I have several .380s and was shocked when I heard from friends months ago that it was gone nationwide. Even saw some yahoo selling a box of Winchester "white box" ball ammo on eBay... one box and it was already over $50+ and climbing!!! Crazy s#@t. It is typically manufactured on the same line as 9mm and the need for 9mm worldwide is staggering compared to 9Kurz/9mmBrowning/.380acp. Most companies make a short run of .380 every year and usually that's enough to last in a normal marketplace. But Ruger's new .380 LCP auto has sold like mad and it hit gun stores at the same time as all the panic ammo buying took place. Bingo... no more .380. All the other ammo (.45acp, 9mm, .40SW, .223 and .308) that was in short supply has now come back but the prices are still stupid high. Not AS BAD but still way high. Saw this coming in 1999 (pre Y2K... remember that?) but it took ten years and a Democratic sweep to make it finally happen. Get used to it. Bikes and cars don't run without gas... just like guns and ammo. I sleep like a baby, I have more than enough. Old yes but also wise.[thumbsup] [laugh]

OK... end of threadjack!

I'm interested as long as the price is not too high.

I'd snatch those up if they are affordable. [thumbsup] Saw some Blazer hollow points at B&S Guns in Mesquite (I-30@Belt Line) that went for around mid $40s/box. Stupid high. But if petros2r doesn't have a .380 and no need for the ammo then hopefully he will take pity on a fellow DMFer. [clap] I'll keep an eye out for something decent and PM if I find you any. No sense in having a gun with no ammo. [bang] Like having a new scooter but no tires. :'(

Stupid me, I threw away 2 boxes last spring! I asked and asked everybody if they wanted them. oh well.

almost 9 years in US and specially Dallas never figured out why people have to get drunk and act like fools... I have seen more drunk people in Bars Concerts, street and Home parties in 8 years .. Kinda boring because it seems like people  having parties so they can get drunk, specilly younger kids! Maybe is the stress of everyday life...

Here in Athens i go pretty much out to the  open air coffee shops with friends every day... Haing a beer or coffee riding our bikes... Life is so much relaxed and you dont have to wait for the weekend to party hard... here is a photo from Today (well Today for you, yesterday for me!)
