Where should knee armor be positioned?

I just ordered some new pants in a Tall size (finally no "high waters" when riding) which is great, but the knee armor seems way too low for me.  When standing, the top of the armor is at the bottom of my kneecap, and when crouched the top of the armor just comes to the top of my kneecap (and extends down 1/3 of my shin).  For reference I am 6' 2" with a 33" or 34" (a little long on me) inseam.  In my previous pants the knee armor seemed to ride slightly too high.

This is too low, right?  Since I'll be moving the armor pocket (sewing by hand, oh joy!) and only only want to do this one time, where should the armor be positioned on my knee?  Exactly centered when crouched/tucked?

The proper location for armor is in the riding position. Based on your description, I think it's in the right position...

If the pants are loose fitting, armor positioning depends on how you expect to hit anything. With a straight or bent leg?
I think it's the best solution to have it as high as it will go, and still bend over the knee when seated.

From the way you have described your current armor situation , I concur with MR EXACT in that it sounds like it is positioned correctly.

if its in the right position, try to shuffle it around on your knee. if it moves around, its no good. You can get really hurt if the armor is shifting around, especially at the knees.
