I'm sure I'll be gone long before I'm close to 70.
And the sugar fountain fairy swore so hard when she came to super-size that stale hope soybean; liiiike a homeless German woman. Who is this super-sizing spirit-crushing femme? And tell her I'll break a tree root up in her shrimp.

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw thatâ€"it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.

You can still have fun at 70, if you've half way taken care of yourself...you just have to slow down a bit, and of course there's that ED thing... :(

Not saying that you can't have fun at/around/above that age.  Just saying that I don't see how my dumb ass will be around long enough to get there.

Apart from the money needed to do the conversion that's one really good reason I always come back to thinking that the 848 is the best of all worlds.   [roll]   I only miss the big power about 10 to 15 % of the time and wonder if I even got the modded 1098 engine to handle as good as the present bike if there would be a big fight with the power.  That modded engine would get on & off the power faster than a regular 1098 and that could be an issue.  Dang, I do, though, wish I had the moola to find out.  My 848 makes more HP than that R1200S but not as much torque so I don't know how that would work.

I used to think that all the time. Did my damn best at times to make it happen too.  Here's a bit of advice.  If you're thinking along those lines then either make darn sure that you don't get there or make sure you have a nice retirement waiting for you if you do make the beast with two backs up and beat the odds.    ;D

I was going to say that I don't think there's any problem with getting the replacements.  We need someone to buy the current bikes.   [thumbsup]   Mileage is only a number but it's a mind-warp number in most people's minds.  Both bikes have been meticulously maintained and neither has had any real big deal issue.  But still..........  [roll]

Gene does have one advantage in that he can trade his in on the new SF if he wants to go that route.  I have a brand new SF t-shirt he could have ( yellow SF )   [laugh]

I've had absolutely zero hits besides the standard first day scam artist try-me-ons.  Oh, well .... Like I said before two years ago when I tried to sell it the first time ..... wouldn't hurt me none to hold onto it.   [Dolph]

Anybody know any history on this bike?

Looks like another military transfer.  Local fair market value?

And for all you active and ex military, thanks for your service!!

I don't think that bike has enough miles on it to really have a history.    ;D

If it's got the low miles that I think it does the price seems pretty fair.

Yeah pretty fresh.  Unfortunatly that's the way I like the CL bikes to be.

Damn thing would double the value of my stable but I know somebody who says that evo is quite the shits.

I hope the "somebody" you are referring to is not me.  When I gush about the 848 I'm talking about mine which is in no way close to a stock  848, Evo or not.  Still, the Evo is good but just needs a proper set up and some extra goodies added on.  You might like it.

Hi Mac,  not directly you, but rather you too.  I'm not a racer, in fact I'm rather slow these days.  My HP needs are limited to the fact that I'm over 6' and over 200#.  Because of that I don't like bikes that don't have the ass for a decent hole-shot or fall short while passing and hills.  The 998 testastretta motors I ride currently never leave me wanting for more so there's no 1098's, 1198's or 1199's in my future.

The aerodynamics of the monster suck in our consistently windy environment so I vastly prefer the SBK format for both handling and ergonomics.  As much as I love to ride the matrix these days I don't think I can ever get it to run cool enough to run in heavy stop/go traffic for commuting.  If they ever throw out the 848 with an underbelly exhaust I might have to buy my first new bike.  Until then I'm considering the 848 evo as a possible commuter.

Although the 848 runs cooler than the bigger engines I'm not sure I'd recommend it for a commuter bike.  It will still get hot and be unhappy but it doesn't get blistering hot, at least not if you put on the Termi exhaust and get rid of those cats.  I really don't know what I would recommend for stop & go traffic motorcycle wise. Maybe a Honda cbr 600? Seriously, I think so.  It has the aerodynamics and ergos and a small ( not big heat maker ) engine that still has some scoot.  Not a Ducati though. They need to be moving.  A Gixxer 750 works good too.
