New Member from NYC

Hello everyone, I am about to buy my first bike: a 2004 Monster 620 with about 5K miles for $4,000 and thought it'd be a good idea to join the community here. Cursory research leads me to believe that's a good price...what do you guys think?

I'm all geared-up (since I heard that's the one place not to skimp). I also took the MSF BRC a year ago and got my motorcycle endorsement, but because of moving up to NYC, wasn't able to get a bike until now. I recently took 6 hours of private lessons at the local MSF school to get reacquainted though, so I think I'm ready to get back into it. Hopefully the weather stays warm a little bit longer so I can cram in as much seat time as possible before packing it in.

Anyway, looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Good luck with the bike shopping.  You'll get more opinions if you also post up in the General forum, but whether that is a fair price depends on the mileage, maintenance, any damage/accidents, and anything else they've done to the bike.

Good call on the gear and the MSF refresher.

Don't forget to check in with your local group, NYMMC, when you get a chance.
