Anyone planning on registering their bike?  Attending?

Anyone been to the event previously?

I'm thinking about going...

Been previously. Pretty cool event. A few of us will probably be getting together to check it out. Maybe a ride before or after the event as well. I wouldn't bother entering a bike as you drop it off early and leave it late, unless you are already planning on hanging out all day.

We went last year and it was sort of disappointing. It's mostly car dealers bringing in their cars and trying to get you to buy one. There were a handful of nice privately owned cars, but it was hardly worth the price of admission.  :-\

Michael

For $5 I'll go and bring my kids for free.

My son loves Italian cars. He has very good taste in such things.

Last year we paid something like $15 each and it wasn't worth it - the price drop says something though about the state of things!!!

The new Desert Ducatisti president is trying to get the club a booth at the event this year!  :)

Exploited?  Famous?  By the Tucson Ducati club?  Exploited how?  I don't get it.  What does that mean?

Oh OK, looks that way, thanks Michael.  I had no idea the AzDuc site was functional, last I heard it was taken down without any notice to Dave and Dietrich at the time they were trying to build credibility for the Ducati club.

TurboMonster

I was told by Dave and Dietrich they where both stepping down. Jeff Devine was the club Treasurer and has decided to step-up and take over as Club President in an effort to re-start the local club.

Not to go into detail, but the only reason "Possession Studios" HAD to take the site down was a "cease-and-desist notification" from Ducati. The club loss it's DOC certification because the legal paperwork wasn't completed...

Last I remember, after the site went down, and someone tried to access it, the message said something to the effect of "do to lack of interest... blah blah blah... the site is being taken down". I defenitely don't remember a mention of a cease and desist notice. Good luck with you club minus another member.

You are right pennyrobber, it didn't say anything about any "cease and desist" order from Ducati   ???

Ducatisti,

It's with deep regret that as of April 7th, 2009 "Possession Studios" is withdrawing it's sponsorship of the Desert Ducatisti club. This decision has not been made lightly. As the only sponsor of the club that pays recurring fee's for the club, the recent events and overall lack of interest in the club makes continued sponsorship seem inappropriate.

As an individual member for over six years, and President of the club of four of those years, I hope the club will turn around and continue on.

Best Regards,
Bill Johnson

This club topic needs its own thread.

Going back to the other thing, I still plan on going to the Concorso show in November. Despite Dave's nay-saying.  ;)

From the looks of the photos, it's well worth $5 to take my 4-year-old and walk around for a while. In fact, if the event was too big, I probably wouldn't go. It seems just the right size for two guys with a short attention span.

He learned that it isn't a good idea to show me beautiful fast Italian machines.  There was a new Bugatti Veyron there for sale that I fell in love with and want really bad. I put it on my Christmas list.  He had to admit it was a little out of his budget  :(
