Hello All.
I have recently relocated back to the DFW area after living in S. America for the last 12 years. Anyhow wanted to get on the DFW monster's distribution list for rides, lunches, whatever.

When moving back I thought I'd buy something in the suburbs, N. Dallas or Mid-Cities from Grapevine back east as that's kind of old stomping grounds, family in that area, and my favorite restaurants are. BUT I somehow ended up buying a place on the other side of Fort Worth outside of Granbury in Glen Rose. I'll host some rides in the lovely N. Texas Hill Country sometime soon. If any of you get out that way to ride, and you should be, give me a shout.

welcome home and congrats on the country parcel purchase  [thumbsup]
I'm from Venezuela and lived in Colombia, Chile and Argentina for a sprint.  What part of the southern hemisphere did you live in?  I do miss the mountains and being able to drive at warp speed down there but not the crime or CHAVEZ

Muskrat,
I lived in Quito Ecuador. Have lived while on projects in Nicaragua, Chile, Uruaguay and then stayed in several other for short periods in Brazil, Panama, Argentina, Mexico.

I'll allways miss the warmth of the people, the spectacular beauty of the Andes and Amazon and as you say ....... being able to ride a warp speed..... the only speed limit being the self imposed one of life preservation :o

There are some really fantastic little rides around my Finca (home with a couple acres) and I'll get something organized for all once I'm a bit more organized and settled in.

Feel free to PM me if heading out that way and I'll send directions and phone. I'm pretty much right at the corner of US-67, the Paluxy River and FM 205 that runs alongside the river to the dinosaur park. Interesting little fact about Somerville county is ALL of their rural roads are paved so combined with the FM roads and the geography of the area it is about as good as it gets in N. Texas for riding.

very nice.  I sometimes wish we had that terrain here in the Metroplex but oh well.  and the speed limit of course.  [cheeky]

Say what? Good riding? Count me in some time, and hopefully soon.

+1 and welcome back to the area. I would definitely be interested in doing some exploration of the FM and RR offerings out your way. What about this Friday or Saturday? The weather is supposed to hold good until Sunday, then it'll be crap.

Shoot. I'll be back in TN for some eat-a-thon, but will be back shortly thereafter.

The ribcage is mending well so I'll be ready for a ride soon I think. Let's do the North Texas Hill Country loop! See Google map below.

I am down for this, provided we go Friday or Saturday.
Is there a soft button to click that connects the dots on that map, or do I have to print it out and find my Crayolas? [laugh]

The area has so many cool routes I just left it without the obligatory blue line as in others. If you open up the link and look at each coordinate point it gives you the directions of travel as well as optional routes. Start out on I-20 at either Old Dennis Rd. or S. Main St. exit. The ride takes most of the day so plan on an all day event.

If you'd like there's a cool looking place call the Hideaway Ranch and Resort (http://www.thehideawayranch.com/) that looks to be a good alternative to riding all the way to Oklahoma after the day is done. I'm going to try someday soon to reserve a nights stay there with the spousal unit.

All in all the ride is one of the best up here in NT.

I'm still here, but I'm not. Of the last 8 weeks I have spent 7 of them in England, Czech Republic and The Netherlands. Did get to spend Thanksgiving week working my tail off to cater to about 30 family members who all came out to my new place. I am flying back in this weekend but have to take right back off again. I'll work on getting something together as soon as I can but it might be early spring before I get a real opportunity...... damn real jobs.

In the mean time try and get out to the Glen Rose, Lake WHitney, Granbury area and do a little bit of riding to know the area. The FM 205 is real nice. When I'm home and can be reasonably assured of decent weather I'll put together a ride and do Burgers at my place for all that show up.

Merry Christmas All

Sounds great!! Safe travels and Merry Christmas right back at you! [thumbsup] [wine]
