Or Bob Hope.  :D Best line ever.

Best Bob Hope movie line

[clap]  [laugh]  [laugh]

I couldn't help but watch Betty White last night.  She's just so darn cute!  But my all time favorite host has to be Justin Timberlake.  So many great skits that have become classics (mostly the ones with Andy Samberg).  Just one example sans Andy:

Justin Timberlake on Plasticville

I didn't know this show was still on.

I haven't watched since the old school (not the real old school some of you remember), but old school for me with Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, David Spade, Kevin Neilin, etc etc.

It was funny with Jimmy Fallon, but once he left, I really stopped.

I wonder if the writer's changed or just the quality of actors changed.......?

or, just an era of comedy changed.

yikes... :: silver hairs stand on end ::    i remember watching the first show with belushi, murray and ackroyd.  although its had some weak seasons, it still shows dark brilliance from time to time.   personally, i miss the phil hartman ( :'( ) era.

Yeah, I was talking really old school, not old school for a 29yr old!

Phil Hartman was in with the Sandler/Farley/Spade era, wasn't he?

I've always liked the show.  In the 70s our group of hippies would watch Monty Python and then Saturday Night live would come on.  Now I'm sober and I can't stay up that late.

Yea, he was with those guys.   I always thought he was pretty funny.

I think Jimmy Fallon was one of the reasons I stopped watching the show.  I don't find him funny at all, maybe even annoying.

Will Ferrell on the other hand... his SNL skits are amazing.

I forgot about Will being in the same time frame as Jimmy.

I think I only liked Jimmy Fallon as the host of Weekend Update.

However.....nobody will ever beat Kevin Nielen in that department.

My three faves for update in no particular order...

  Norm McDonald

  Kevin Nealon

  Dennis Miller

Each had a great style and always made me laugh.

damn, I forgot about Dennis Miller!

His career slightly changed from comedian to political radio talk show host, however, he still throws some comedy in.

That is what I keep hearing.

Everyone says JT was pretty funny

(odd note: It is rumored that he will be in Lone Survivor: The Marcus Luttrel Navy Seal movie. I just hope they don't make the beast with two backs up the movie, but Pete Burg is writing and directing, so it should be a good account)

Really?

Chevy Chase invented Weekend Update! In the days when he used to say "Good evening. I'm Chevy Chase, and you're not," the President of the United States once came on and said "Good evening. I'm Gerald Ford, and you're not." Gilda Radner as Emily Littela was a regular correspondent as was Don Novello as Father Guido Sarducci.

I do like Kevin Nealon, but I think he's better in Weeds than he was on Weekend Update.

True, JT has been great but Alec is really good too.

I say the best episode in 5-7 years was when Peyton Manning was on.  He was freaking hilarious.  The United Way sketch is still the funniest sketch I've seen in a really long time.

I liked the news when Akroyd and Curtain did their point/counterpoint bit.
