I don't care what he says for the next 8 months. He's going to play next year. He's going to play until someone cripples him, and I think that's a little sad.
for a while there i thought New Orleans was going to do that.

I'd wager he's already pretty crippled up.

What should he do?

Sell insurance?

My guess is it's hard to retire when you just had the best year of your career. I expect him back with the Vikes next year...and they'll be very good again.

He's still pretty good at walking too; he should retire while he can still walk. But retire with class. e.g. Kurt Warner  [clap]

He would have an awesome serve with his height and arm strength. Also, getting hit by a IZ_ tennis ball doesn't hurt as much as getting hit by a 300 lb. defensive lineman.  [laugh]

OK, this is not football related, but Roger Federer plays Andy Murray for the Australian Open title tonight. If Fed wins, he will increase his career grand slam title wins to 16 career grand slams. Fed is only 27, which is relatively old in tennis. Tiger has 14 slams in golf at 34 years. It's hard to compare sport to sport, but  the Fed train is one of the most dominant runs in any sport. Will Rossi win 15 titles? Will Brett win 6 Super Bowls? Will King James or Kobie win ten titles combined? Will Jeter win seven titles with the Yanks?

My point?  ??? This is one of the best athletes in any sport at any time in history.

this is hard to say. team sports is unique. when the planets align, and the whole team is in sync, the next season its totally different.

theres very few teams who can consistently be insanely good. Colts have been on a good run, but you can see the ups and downs theyve had. The patriots had thier high speed run, and after tom brady got injured the team is barely able to get into the playoffs. but i bet he will be back.

Exactly, and isn't next year looking like an uncapped year? How many teams are going to be looking to poach some key players with bags of money? Of course it also means the Vikings can spend the cash to keep everyone too. Tough to say.

So what's your point? I said my guess is he'll be back, and they'll be very good again.

If they return essentially the same team, there isn't any reason they won't be good again. Of course, if they lose key players to free agency or injury (ala the Patriots and Brady in your example) then all bets are off.
