I thought that was weird too, but I'm not nearly as knowledgeable as a lot of the ducatista around here.  Is it a DS1k? It looks like the S2R800 motor to me, but like I said ^

paul smarts are dry i believe. the rest are wet at the dealership right now, iirc.

Look closely at the red bike. Somebody explain to me how gears are shifted.

Very cool exhaust on that red Sport Classic.  It reminds me a little of the Road Racing exhausts for Monsters that were out several years back.  The exhaust exited on the other side though. 

The Red Sport Classic looks like it has a wet clutch.  I never knew they came with wet clutches. 

the first year or two of SCs came with a dry clutch and then they changed them.

Here is what I see after looking over some pictures.  If it is a Sport Classic and has one shock it had a dry clutch.  If it has two shocks it has a wet clutch.

Good info trav, I had always assumed they were dry clutch bike because they were dual spark 1000 motors

those crunky old tanks are interesting but always strike me as weird -- and decadent.  how much hassle went into making that?!  get a dent, you can just chuck it.  repairing it would be a pregnant dog.

I too always thought those tanks were weird looking for the sake of being funky, but evidently there was logic behind that shape.  From the SVRider's forum,
"This is called a "Jelly Mold" tank. It's design allows the rider's arms to tuck in to the molding on the sides of the tank. The indentation on top allows the riders chin to get lower on the tank. The brackets on top are for mounting a tank pad for the riders chin."
