Any suggestions on roads between Texarkana and Houston? Trip coming in March

We're in the planning stages of our trip from OKC to Houston to visit my brother in March. I've got the trip planned from OKC to Mena AR and on down to Texarkana. Does anyone have any suggestions for good roads between there and Houston?

You are going to hit the Talimena Scenic Drive from Talihina, OK to Mena, AR right?? Just be aware if you ride it on the weekend that it can be heavily patroled by Sheriff Deputys and Park Rangers. I have been personally told by a LeFlore Co. Deputy that it's not patroled Mon-Thurs but it is covered Fri-Sun. I have first hand proof that is true... don't ask me how I know. Not sure about T-town to Houston. I bet some folks will chime in. Have fun on the ride! [moto]

pm me there are plenty of roads in East Texas you will love but make sure you stay East of Palestine, which you should if you stay near highway 59.  also go to Ride Texas (bike magazine) online and you can order rides, maps and past issues with full blown descriptions.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll check out the sites and see what I can pick up.

As far as the Talimena Dr, you are correct about there not being anyone on it during the week. Our first trip down the Drive early last year was on a Monday and we only saw two cars the whole 53 miles

Nope, sorry. Just hope you have some good weather. You know how March can be in TX, OK and AR. Seventy five and sunny one day and 35 and rainy the next. Ride safe, have fun. [moto]

grab a Ride Texas book, seriously.  There are tons of roads through Tyler and southward and back to Lufkin area.

You got that right. The weather is the deciding factor as to when we leave, but that's no guarantee

I really recommend winding through Colorado, then hit most of Utah, & back through N. New Mexico
