Poop.  I am suddenly less happy with my Scorpion X700.  Dropped it about 18 inches.  I thought the damage was only a few nasty paint chips which, while they are worse than I would have guessed, are still just chips.  However, I noticed the visor wasnt moving right.  Still not a big deal, I can fix it when I get home.  Nope. The side it fell on no longer fits into the holder. What's really cool, though, is the other side is broken as well.  The visor won't move on that side, and neither will the attach/detach mechanism.
I finally managed to pop the screen off, and it's all clearly useless.  I looked online, and the parts are not available.  I was pretty happy with my budget Scorpion until now.  I suppose it could just be a fluke, but that's a lot to break in a small drop.  I don't doubt the integrity of the shell, but I don't have a visor anymore, which is not groovy.
I guess I need a new lid.  For those that have worn Scorpion helmets, any thoughts on similar fit from other brands?  I always used to wear Shoei, but haven't had a new one in 10 years.  I feel like it fit well, but that was not recent.

Man, that sucks.  I love my Scorpion.  I have never had any issues.  Could just be a fluke.
I haven't researched it very much, but can you not replace those release mechanisms on the helmets?  I have seen them for sale, but they may just be the covers for looks instead of the entire assembly.  It might be worth contacting Scorpion and see what their take is on it.
As far as other helmets go, I thought the Arai helmets had a similar (and slightly more comfortable) fit and were lighter, but the prices were rediculous.  Good luck.

Love my Arai, but must agree that they're very pricey.  Before the Arai I had an Icon and found it to be a really good fit with minimal wind noise, all at a very reasonable price.
If it's got two wheels and a motor, I like it!
