I have never taken a course from him but you are right... he is the MAN!! I know friends that have taken his courses and they raved. It's my understanding that if you have been a student of his and you get into a self defense shooting scenario and some how get criminally charged or sued in a civil court he will (at no charge) testify on your behalf as an expert witness. Is that right?

My personal version of him is Louis Awerbuck. He too is awesome!!

Yes : He has testified for many of his students to the abilities of what that the student was trained in..........He also has a number of attorneys that work with him across the country.  That is something that he drills into you that it is just as much a legal action as it is a lethal one.  That is a cloud that seems to hang over lethal defense.

Im seriously considering selling my 1911.  How would i accurately value it? Best place to market it?  Gunbroker?

Its an Argentine made Sistema 1911, all original barrel-slide-frame. Serial number puts dates of manufacture in 1943 i believe.

I have 400+ rounds for it as well. Should i include them with the gun or sell seperate?  Are there any liability issues i should worry about since i loaded those myself?

My Ruger 9mm has pretty much taken over my range time. I just like it a lot and im pretty accurate with it (usually)

The .45 is fun to shoot, don't get me wrong, but its very hard to be accurate with it. I figure to bring it up to snuff it would need all new sights and probably a barrel/ bushing. Maybe just a refit to a new bushing.  Not sure.

I don't feel right about messing with an all original firearm that's almost 70 years old. You know?

The other thing is im looking at moving up to a progressive loading setup in 9mm to support the Ruger and possibly a CX4 Storm 9mm down the road. Got this one on the brain pretty bad. Its one less reason (two?) to load .45

Thoughts?

Am i nuts for thinking of selling?

I have always been sorry for every gun I have ever sold.......If you can live without selling it you will be glad you kept it  in the future........ ;D

It is also fun and rewarding to work on your weapon, call it a learning experience!

Yeah, i thought of that. I don't *need* to sell it. Its just a case of replacing something i don't shoot with something i would.

Yea : That works to........If you are going to get more shooting out of the deal that is a plus!

Some background: the 1911 was my first hand gun and the guy i bought it from is a friends dad (ok he's my friend too) and he taught me how to reload too. This gun got me into shooting and firearms. It was the gateway gun for me.

I have a .22 bolt rifle and a 30-30 winchestor to hunt with but don't hunt anymore and even when i did it got shot 3 times a year. Sight in.

For whatever reason i am now a firearm addict. Guns i don't have but want are a daily thought.

Is that what you and the wife shot the targets with? Sweet old Security Six. [thumbsup] It's been around for a while! Everyone gets all wrapped up around the axle with all the new cool autos and good old wheelguns get forgotten and collect dust in the back of gun safes. Sad.

Yup, that was the hole puncher!  It really is an incredible shooting revolver.  If you cock the hammer and fire it single action, there is maybe 1/8th inch of trigger movement, if that much and it is really light.  Even shooting double action with the longer trigger pull I was still shooting a nice group.

We'll not shoot this one much, as it's such a nice piece, it's not even had 100 rounds through it.  It is fun to shoot though.  It belonged to my late grandfather and he only fired it one time, putting the hole in the corner of the box.

Don't forget about a long barrel Ruger red or black in 44 mag.  A 300gr 44 will be close to a 454 (all be it not that big a diameter) but the ammo will be a lot cheaper to buy.

Good luck.

In pa you just fill out some paperwork and pay $25 and you're in.

I'm with Bo-D! [thumbsup] With the personal connection and the fact that you "really" don't HAVE to sell it I'd hang onto it. Why the hell not? Can't tell you how many firesticks I have in the safes that I haven't shot in a while. It's kind of like rediscovering them after a few years. It's like "Wow, I forgot about this one!!" Had that same moment a few months ago with a FN FAL G-series sear cut lightweight. Too nice and expensive to wear out so it sees limited use. Sweet ass rifle! [thumbsup] That one won't be sold. I'll lose my house first! [laugh]
I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

CONFIDENCE: the feeling you have right before you understand the situation.

I've been struggling with something for a while now that perhaps you experts can help with.  I struggle with how to store my personal protection pistols, especially in the home.  How, where, with what safety precautions, etc?  The struggle is between wanting to store safely, especially with children in the home, while maintaining the ability to grab and use in an excited rush if that need should ever arise.  Any insights appreciated.
