Was thinking the same thing after reading all the responses [thumbsup]
This is what I did, and it was hugely beneficial.  Even after the advice I got from the guys in this thread, shooting before you buy is the only way.

My $0.02 - since I was going to carry for personal defense and didn't want to break the bank, I wound up with a Kahr CW-9.  If I'd had another $120-$150, I'd have gone with the Glock - it really is everything everyone in the thread says it is.

Enjoy your search, and let us know what you wind up with.

Who is Jud? Why do people keep referring to me as this person. I have no idea who he is.
Ya know...the similarities are amazing...

I think in a weird scheme to make money, Ducati made more than one S4r. I could be wrong, though.

Warren - Thanks for the info on guns and loads. That's all very interesting. Can't wait to see your final article.

Yes. Do that. Go "test ride" as many as you can. Borrow some from friends if you have friends that shoot....

Point is, go shoot all that you can. Then get what you want/like/can afford. Period. [thumbsup]
+1.  All pistols are similar on paper with few differences.  You can research all you want and read reviews from fanboys and haters of every handguns out here.  But unless you actually put one in your hand, you don't know what it's like.  After trying a few, you will get a pretty good idea what you like and dislike.

The downside of trying them all is - you realize that you "need" more than just one.  I've been quietly and quickly adding a small collection to my first CZ 75B.  I added a CZ P-01, M&P9, and a Sig P6(W. German).  I am sure there are more in my future.  Sigh....

The magic number for firearms is 7.  Most significant others cannot discern the addition of another gun past 7.   1,2,3,4,5,6,7 - many.   Spouse-"I don't remember seeing that gun before"  You - "You know Dear, one of the first signs of aging and dementia is the loss of memory."  at which point, they will be mad enough to forget completely about the "imagined" increase to the firearms battery.  You may have to sleep on the couch for a while, but your new gun is safely in the fold.  A small price to pay.

I know exactly what you mean.
Luckily I got my wife interested in shooting and need to find some good handguns for her too ;D
Also submitted her application for deer and elk hunts. Darn...we might even have to look for a hunting rifle for her now  [laugh]
See how that works  ;)

All my 1911s kinda look alike, all my AR platform guns kinda look alike, all my hunting shotguns are over and unders, again they look alike, all my tactical shotguns sort of look alike, all bolt action rifles sort of look alike... seeing a pattern here? My "non gun savvy" wife would never know if I showed up with 20 new ones tomorrow! And 20 more the day after! [laugh] Just sayin'. ;)

Not that I really need anymore. [bacon] [evil]
I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

It doesn't work for me a bit.  My wife probably has 30 guns of her own - she was the top woman combat shotgun shooter in North America for a few years, USPSA Range Officer, shoots bigger deer than I do, on the cover of Woman and Guns Magazine, written up in Precision Rifle, American Handgunner and Tactical Shooter, LFI grad, HI Power and Smallbore Competitor, owns and shoots a 375 H&H and likes it, etc, etc.  The guys where she works come to her when they start arguing about guns.  I can't get away with nuthin!  I can usually convince her that she needs something, and I get to use it - so it still works out.

Would you say that your wife is the one "wearing the holster" in your household?   [cheeky]

I trained her, so we are both pretty comfortable with holsters.

That's some funny stuff! [laugh]

Of course my same story also goes for scooters. I could show up with a Desmoseidci all she would say "if it's red it must be one of his Ducatis". [laugh]

What is the deal with asking Your Wife for permission, I have never understood why. Is there a real reason why a Man can't do something witrhout asking the Wife for approval....
