I'm putting a 5" 1/2x28 Adco barrel on my 9MM SBR.  I'll have to swap the mount between the Glock since it probably won't cycle with the recoil booster.

I was thinking more about the .300 Blackout/.22 AR- If I wanted to register it as an SBR, how would you do it?  I've heard you default to the largest caliber/shortest barrel, so I would register the .22 serial lower as a .300 Blackout?

Yes, that is correct. Im not sure the Cal. matters much(as long as it is under .50). Once the lower is engraved with the new SBR S#, then you can send in your forms and $200. I would register as a 300 blackout. Once you get your tax stamp you can swap out the uppers all you want.

Here is another video I made a while back. This was at a "guys weekend" in the mountains. This is two shots in the night. The first shot is a Desert Eagal .50 and the second is a .223 target pistol. Enjoy!

Heading to my friend's west TX ranch this upcoming week to goof off with the guys. Cold adult beverages, cigars, grilled steaks over mesquite wood, major BS and gun shooting! [thumbsup] I do need to check the kitchen point account but I think it's flush for at least three days of fun.

Need to clean the Rem 700, MP5, a couple of ARs and some pistols... just so I can get them dirty again! ;) May spend more time on the .22s this time... bad economy and all. Can you ever have a bad time shooting .22s? Didn't think so! [beer]

Maybe even get in some feral hog hunting with the youngins. They aren't lazy like us old folk and are always up for an early morning or evening hunt off the corn feeders. Glad when the kiddos show up... they keep us all young! [laugh] ;)
It sounds like your weekend may end up looking a bit like this. Here are pics from a friend’s bachelor party/ guy’s weekend in the mountains. We made him where a safety vests all weekend though.

This was not staged. Several of the long guns just ended up in this doorway.

We also had some fun on these!

Buckethead

Reminds me of what we used to do at the gun range outside the town where I grew up. They had camper hookups at the long-range firing line and over by the combat pistol range. My friend Bob would bring out his camper van and hook up over at the CP range. We'd shoot all afternoon, then use the pivoting grill on the back of his camper to make dinner, then go back and shoot til it got dark. Then we'd sit around and drink and "critique" each other's shooting skills. Occasionally (before the drinking started in earnest for the night) we'd have a muzzle blast "competition" where one person at a time would head out to the 100 yard hunter pistol range (with the really high berms) and put one downrange.

Bob's ported .357 with the 3" barrel and some "warm" handloads was on an unbroken win streak until I bought a .300 WinMag with a muzzle break.  [evil]

Yeppers, nothing better than an all guys weekend at a farm or ranch. Sorry ladies, no offense. But boys just to need to be boys. It's healthy. Guns, motorcycles/ATVs, grilled meat, liquor, beer, good snacks, maybe some sleep and high quality BS... beats thousands of dollars in counseling every time! It's kept me alive and semi-sane for decades! [laugh]

Here is my first attempt at making a video for Youtube. This is 5 shots through my Browning Buckmark with the 22Sparrow on it. As is typical you hear a little first round pop (not loud at all), then all you hear after that is the action and the round hitting the target. Very fun set up!

Ok, I got out last night and shot the new rifle (S&W M&P 15-22). I shot a Winchester tactical AR-22 round and some CCI sub-sonic. The Winchester was supper-sonic and was too loud for our shooting location.
We were shooting from a slightly elevated position down to our paper targets 100 yards away. The CCI sub-sonic cycled very well and the gun was dead on left to right. No adjustment needed. The rounds were all hitting about 8-10 inches low at 100 yards. I did not bring the sight adjustment tool, so we just aimed a little high. We both were able to get a 2" group of 5 shots (open sights from bench rest).
Being able to shoot with the suppressor was great! I do have two small complaints though. The bolt slap was quite loud as compared to other semi-auto 22's. You definitely need a spacer for the threads when you install the suppressor. Both are very minor issues though.
All things considered, this is a very fun rifle to shoot. It was a great buy!

I had the same rifle and sold it. The ejection port pop got worse :(

Suppressed M&P15-22

Sounds good in this video though. I want the new ruger 10/22 takedown.  [thumbsup]

I'd love to have a muffled .22LR. Either 10/22 or Ruger Mark II pistol. How much fun would that be? [thumbsup] [popcorn] [bow_down]

My older brother has a friend with a great story about wild hogs and a knife. Long ago my brother's buddy that owned a trucking company went to Hawaii (I'm guessing the big island... not sure now) with his wife. He had booked with a local guide to go on a hog hunt while they were there. He made sure his rifle was properly checked on the flight over (way pre-9-11) and was looking forward to the hog hunt.

The rules for flying with guns haven't changed at all since 9/11.  Some airlines are voluntarily more strict, but the general rule is no more than 5 handguns in a case that is locked by the passenger (and not openable by TSA).  The TSA search is done with the owner present and then the case is locked after the TSA puts an "inspected" tag inside the case.  I think the limit for long guns is 2 per passenger.

One box of ammo is includable if it is packed in a container which keeps it from moving.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Not trying to get into gun law here... but I have only flown with a handgun once. My ex-wife and I went to NOLA years ago and she was worried about possible trouble in the Quarter after dark. There was lots of bad press about crime in NOLA at that time. Actually she was more worried than I was. She "insisted" I take a gun and I had a carry license that was recognized by Louisiana.

I called the airline to make sure I had the rules straight. Back then they used to put the "HEY, looky here! There is a gun inside this suitcase!!!" sticker on the bag. As you can imagine it lead to lots of guns being "lost". Shortly after our trip they changed that and put the "it's OK" paperwork inside the luggage.

I made sure the gun was disassembled and the ammo kept separate and locked in another piece of luggage. This was all pre 9-11 so I am sure things have tightened up. I hope it has! [roll]

I don't know how long ago that was, but as far back as I can remember the FAA disallowed anything visible on the outside indicating it was a firearm.  That would be the early 90s.  I think some airlines might have done that for the security check but it was supposed to be removed.

Rules haven't changed at ALL.  You can put ammo in  the same container provided it is in something "suitable for ammo".. this means the original box or an ammo box.  It can't be loose.  Gun doesn't have to be disassembled but I always put in an orange zip tie thru the action so they can see it's unloaded.

I leave near DC and fly out of Reagan all the time (which is inside DC).. I've never had a problem.  I just tell them I am checking firearms and here is my locked container, please direct me to TSA for the hand search.   They never bat an eye... until they see the goodies.

I just flew with a handgun last month (United).  Before hand, I checked with United's and TSA's website on rules.  It's pretty straight forward - it must be in check-in luggage, must be unloaded, in locked hard case, with ammo separated from the case.  You must declare the firearm at check-in; otherwise, you run the risk of getting into big trouble.

At the check-in, I calmly told the agent that I have a firearm to declare.  He didn't even bother looking up and said ok.  He then handed me an orange declaration form to sign that I had followed all the rules.  He then instructed me to take my luggage to the oversized luggage door to have my luggage and firearm inspected.  It took 5 extra minutes.

Yeah, it was early-mid 90's. It was Southwest Airlines and they were totally cool. I broke the auto down because I thought they would like that. And I too ran a zip tie through the barrel even though I had the auto apart. No problems on either side of the trip. And yes, back then they did put "there is a gun in this luggage!!" stickers on your bags. That program soon ended after that... for all the right reasons! [thumbsup]
