On my game today. 3rd session this week. I’m teaching in Lynchburg again next weekend, then rolling into a 5 day CQB course for LEO’s in Mississippi. They’re gonna get the full on Daryl show.  ;)

It’s on the horizon. The screenplay my old Tm SGT wrote is going to be a movie. I’ll be putting a team of pipe hitters together to train the actors. They make the beast with two backsed 12 Strong up horribly and that shits not gonna happen on this film.

How is she able to continue firing after the mag change without releasing the bolt?

She didn’t let it run dry. Competition shooters, especially USPSA rarely ever do slide or bolt lock mag changes. My guess is she was round counting that sequence.

They ‘dry walk’ a stage prior to shooting it. They get really good at the math problem. It doesn’t always work out and sometimes they’ll shoot a makeup shot or two that’ll force a slide look reload. IDPA competition forces slide locks on most all of their stages. Since all my training and teaching is based on CMMS/SDS shooting, I only do slide/bolt lock reloads.

On that note, I’ve always taught reduced capacity reloads as in, I’m in a gunfight and I shot a bunch of rounds and I’m getting ready to move across some open space to new cover or deep in a structure doing CQB, I’ll remove what’s left in the gun and replace it with a full mag.
