Reading about the 357 sig just reminded me about some conversion kits for the sig sauer.  I have a p226 9mm, does anyone know if the .40cal or 357 sig conversion kit is available for it? I took a quick look online but only read about the kits to convert .22lr p226 to .40 and 357 sig.

YOu can't easily go from 9mm to 40 or .357s.  The case length of the .40 is too long and the .357 is just a necked-down .40 case.

40 and 357sig are the same case from the point of view of the gun.  Same mags, extractor, etc.  Only the barrel is different.

I have seen .40 guns that have a 9mm option but not the reverse.  Easy to go down in case length, not up.

I have a Jericho 941 with barrels and magazines for both 40 and 9 but it is sold as a .40.  Also came with .41AE barrels and mags, but... that caliber went pfffft

the 40 is a great round, as is the 357, but i've been a 9/45 guy forever.  if you are building your collection and don't mind toting 800 lbs of ammo to the range, buy everything, but once you build a collection you start figuring out ways to economize on space and weight.. lol..

i sold off several .40 guns a while back just to cut down the redundancy.

at the end of the day, your round is like your wife.  you like her and she does the job.  someone else might like her, someone else might not, but the only important thing is that you like her (ladies, substitute husband... or S/O..whatever..)

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Check out the Sig 250.  Same trigger group, interchangeable barrels, frames.

I second ducatiz comments about dumbing things down caliber-wise over time. I too am a 9/45 guy and the usual revolver rounds... .38/.357, .45 Long Colt. And of course a shit load of .22s. [thumbsup] I just got tired of trying to keep up with all the new rounds. He's right about dragging a shitload of different ammo to the range. I sold my Glock 22s and 35s to cut back. Yeah, I still have a 10mm and a couple .40S&W pistols. The 10mm is just a fun oddball now a days and the .40s are Glock 23s for concealed carry. They match my G-19s that I love to carry.

In the grand scheme of things I still shoot my .22s (pistols and rifles) and .223 AR platforms more than anything with 9mm and .45ACP (pistols) a close second and .38 wheelguns bringing up the rear. And an occasional practice with a .380 carry gun to stay sharp.

I think eventually everyone falls back to their favorites whether it's an custom handload bench round or just the basic everyday stuff. It's all good! [thumbsup] I need to go shooting! Too damn hot to ride scooters.

I really like a good .357 revolver.  Might like to have a .44 Mag just for fun.

Re: laser sights and their use as a "deterrent"

I've read the argument that it's good to have a laser sight as just the look of it will make a confronter think twice.

If it were dark, how would they ever know you had one?  Besides looking down to see the dot, or a red flash in their eye perhaps.

If it were me, I'd think the sound of a pump action shot gun going into battery would certainly stop me in my tracks if I were breaking and entering.  Not sure I'd notice a little red dot.

Thoughts?

I'm going with the clank of a pump scattergun over a red dot. Never been a laser fan but I am sure there are plenty out there. I won't bore y'all anymore with my "I love shotguns because..." BS. [laugh]

Technically the thing should already have a shell in the chamber before someone comes into the house, right...

Lasers are an excellent deterrent if you keep the fog machines going...

Ive seen this scenario first hand and heard similar stories

cops are ordering a guy to the ground with an array of guns pointed at him

guy is all bluster and make the beast with two backs you's

then someone gets his attention with a laser

and he becomes compliant

don't know the psychology behind it but seems to work sometimes

found my old skin suit

cops with an array of guns aren't enough of an incentive to start up the yes-sir no-sirs?

Looking at some of my 7th graders, nope.  They'll just point theirs back at the cops.

On another note, as I own a company now. . .

full auto stuff might be fun.

Right?

Yes. They are. ;D ML, pm me about class III stuff if you want.

Also, some folks keep their weapons (pistol/rifle/scattergun... not revolvers) with an empty chamber, loaded magazine. Obviously needing to rack a slide, work a bolt, etc to chamber a round and make ready. This is commonly known as Condition 3. Empty chamber, hammer down, full magazine. Personally, to make my wife happy (kiddos in the house and all...) I down loaded the chambers in my home defense weapons to give me that tiny bit of extra safety if, God forbid, a little one finds one of my secured weapons. They would have to first find it and then somehow operate it and chamber a round to make it dangerous. I seriously doubt a small child (or even most adults!) could find any of my secured guns but that little bit of extra security made my wife happy about the guns being around. She's not a gun or scooter person... yeah, why did she marry me?? [laugh] I have no problem cycling the weapon to make ready. I know it's condition and have trained accordingly.

Google firearms condition one, two, etc and read about it. I've bored you enough already. [roll] [coffee]
