ARMY Blackhawk pilots rule.

I would have to agree with that. ;D

Holy shiznit... if that Blackhawk is as close to those trees as it looks, that took some skill... or balls... or both.

Just like in the city, you find a good parking space, you take it. ;)

It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

Si

We did also just get 4 47F's with glass:

Not just glass but MFD's & looks like 2 GPS. Got INS as well?

Edit: I read this about the software.

"We predominantly use the [LynuxWorks] LynxOS-178 real-time operating system (RTOS), as it was part of our initial designs," Svatek says. "Our people went through the entire RTOS and refined it to be certified to DO-178B."

DO-178B (and now C) is a good quality program... but getting software engineers to actually *follow it* is a bizatch.  [bang]

I worked on those glass screen setups for Rockwell Collins (both the -60M and the -47F).  Wish I could share stories about those programs, but that'd be verboten.  ;)  Anyway... very, very cool to see the UH-60M and CH-47F systems in the field now.

Fly safe, guys.  [thumbsup]

Is anyone that was at DIMBY remembering anything?  [laugh]

I was not at DIMBY and I remember some stuff but not all stuff.

Back to posting pics...  ;)

Sticking with aviation, this pretty much sums me up:

Last couple times we've been flying with extended family, when the plane starts making funny noises my sister-in-law will look at my expression.  If I look bored or otherwise not alarmed, she stops worrying.  It's kinda funny that now I'm in the family, they have someone to ask all those questions they've never had answers to before.  "What's that noise?" "What is that flap of metal on the wing?" "Is that vibration normal?"  Et cetera, ad infinitum...  It's a good thing I like to teach, especially about aviation. ;)

I find it colossal that they did the 747 design on paper

The SR-71 was designed on paper... and the math was all done on slide rules.  This is an airplane that goes mach 3 at 80,000 feet... the thermal expansion of the panels had to be calculated such that the panels fit perfectly at temp (altitude and speed), which resulted in it leaking like a sieve on the ground.

Never ceases to amaze me.
