I just bought a nice set of Cortech pants but even with the liner out they are very hot. I like the idea of perforated leather pants or lightweight textiles. Any good deals or good places on line to look would be cool. I'm a tough fit for gear as I have a 34 inch inseam. Most pant's with a 34 waist are to short (I wear 34x34). I have also given some thought to wearing the field armor like the Icon stuff under some regular jeans. Thought's or suggestions ?

I wore the Icon Field Armor knee and shin armor before I started wearing leather. I guess I just decided that leather was the safest way to go so I bought several pair of Dainese leather ( Mekong and Firefly) pants and eventhough they aren't perfed and they are hot I value my skin the most. I wish I could tell you I knew of something better but I never found denim to be cool and even w/ a pair of Adventure pants which are made of lycra w/ 1/4 " or 1/2" foam pads in the hips, thighs, tailbone, and butt. The  knees and shins have foam backed composit armor. That is something you might try if you don't want to wear leather but have allittle more armor under whatever pant you wear over them . They can be seen at protect-world.com. The Dainese PF leather ( perfed) pants would be cooler than the Mekong or Firefly models.

Joe Rocket Alter Ego pants are pretty comfortable in the summer.

Dainese Drake Textile pants work pretty well for me.  They have a flap above the knee that goes up to reveal a mesh panel for airflow.  I think ProItalia and Kneedraggers carry them.  Another version is the Dainese Drake Air textile pant.  It's basically the same pant, except there are more mesh panels that are fully exposed for air flow.  They're also a little cheaper than the regular pants.  Motowheels has them and you get a discount for registering with them.

Here are the Drake and Drake Air that taun mentioned.  They are both made of a heavy denier Cordura with a tightly twisted and woven nylon mesh to allow free airflow, but still offer high abrasion resistance.  Both use the same composite CE2 armor that we use throughout most of our range.

I would also recommend the Fluxus if you want a nice warm weather textile pant, but do not want to go mesh.  Don't let the color in the picture put you off.  They are also available in black and grey.

Finally, the Yamato is a great pant that has two vents on either leg that can be opened up to increase air flow.  The nice thing about this pant is you can wear it anywhere without getting any strange looks.  It's more for those that don't always want to look like they just stepped off a race track, but desire something that is going to offer better protection than jeans or slacks.

[thumbsup] Another vote for the Drake Air.  I'm in Florida and use them all summer in >90 degree temps.

Yet another vote for the drake airs... rode this weekend in 115 deg heat and they were comfortable.  I use them over my jeans for winter riding (AZ winters).  For summer riding I use some lightweight hiking (wicking) shorts under them.

Just picked up a pair of the Alpinestars A-10 airflow pants and they were worth every penny. They're armored and padded as much as any of their high end leather pants but most of the textile fabric is heavy mesh so they flow tons of air. Perfect, for me anyways  ;), for the summer.

I've got drakes (non-mesh type) and I don't think they're too hot at all. high 80's to low 90's in the summer, but slightly less humidity than, say, florida.

buddy of mine has the drake airs, and he thinks it's too hot.

my other set of gear is the aussie draggin' jeans w/armor, which feels just slightly less substantial, but they both have CE armor, so we'll see.

I wear Icon tiMax.  They're tight-woven mesh textile with armor and they look and feel pretty decent, although I'm looking for leathers now.  I'm in Canada though, so we only have about one month where it gets into the 90's.  I ride in weather that freezes your nuts (literally) and then I wear long underwear and jeans underneath.

Fieldsheer Apollo 2's.  Zip in liner for cold weather, breathable/waterproof.  About $110.  A little warm riding in temps above 80 (liner out, of course).  When sitting in coffee shop for a while they are warm and a little sweaty.  However, I lke em.
