I never checked into this thread(or posted up much at all for that matter) but I was unemployed since January and have been looking for work, dropping my resume everywhere. I finally got a new Job in my field a few days ago. It's a great paying job with a relocation package of 40K that also pays all the closing expenses of a new home purchase. The only hook is that it is located up in North Dakota working with a Natural gas company as a permanent maintenance crew but the way I look at it, I'd rather be earning a paycheck and finally being able to get some money in the bank again. It isn't a good feeling being unemployed and I hope you guys that are stuck in the suckage get out soon.

It's now or never

Back story: I am originally from Lancaster PA. I bought an engagement ring before Christmas only to lose my job a week after I dropped the cash. She said yes... She is from OC NJ and wanted to stay in that area. We were faced with a few big decisions. Where do we go and what do we do? We decided to look for employment in both areas.

I shoot an email to a tattoo shop in NJ looking for an apprentice. The owner gets back to me and off we go to NJ. I show him my portfolio, we shoot the shit and in the end I told him I would get back to him. I called him a few days later and told him that I didn't think it was a good idea for me to commit to something when I still haven't found work.

He wouldn't take no for an answer.

They want me badly enough that the owner and artists practicing at the shop are talking to clients/friends to find me work while I go through my apprenticeship (6 months to a year before I even pick up a machine).

So here is to my leap of faith  [beer]

I have a fiance, a 2 year-old and a whole life ahead of me. I'll be damned if my son has to grow up watching me work a shitty job just to get by. I'm going to live out my dreams and make him proud.

I've spent an entire lifetime devoted to art. Now I get to use that to help others. I can't imagine anything better.

Ducati is the pretty girl that can't walk in heels without stumbling. I still love her.

I'm not sure if I should say sorry to hear

Or congrats

Medical retirement due to an on-duty injury. I've been off and in limbo for 13 months. I'm glad the process is over for the most part. I'll miss 10% of the job and 10% of the guys I worked with.

I do need to decide what I would like to do next.

I hope you've recovered well enough to enjoy the next phase of work/life.
