We can use some help in either OEF or OIF. Step up to the plate.

DRKWNG can back me up on this one.

I desperately wish I could. Unfortunately, I'm not eligible for military service.

I am too old.

Well, I finally found a job delivering furniture. Start tomorrow. Not the most glamorous job, but the money is better than I made at my last job, the insurance isn't bad and I pretty much make my own schedule. I've gotten fat again over the last 6 months off so it'll be nice to work some of that shit off(I lost 25 lbs last time I delivered furniture).

Woot.

Sucks that I feel the need to revive this thread.

Unfortunately my all-expense-paid trip to Adventure Camp did not last as long as it was supposed to...

I did come home to an e-mail from a recruiter I met several years ago, now running her own little two-person shop seeing if I was interested in some contract stuff - Probably 3 to 4 months...

After a couple e-mail exchanges, I get this from her:

Our clients deserve a commitment from the people we place with them so it is our policy not to place candidates that still have military obligations.

Aside from being illegal (if some of the other lawyer types more versed in employment law want to chime in on this, your PM’s are most welcome), just a nice "Welcome Home” kick in the balls!

As far as the commitment...  One weekend a month and a couple extra days here and there?
It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

I thought you were employed as a tour guide for Stella's friend...  and then Diva's "chauffeur"?   [cheeky]

Seriously, though... That's some bullshit right there on her part.  [thumbsdown]

I only see jesus having a sauna with a teletubbie.

I find it disturbing that you're imagining me in a sauna, never mind the teletubbie aspect of it

Tour Guide for Stella's <moto riding actress/model> friend was just a one day gig and, though a lot of fun, did not pay very well.

Diva is not going to hire me until she buys her helicopter.  :(

New job posting...

While it does sound like it would be almost as much fun as my part-time job, isn't NASA pretty much on hiatus right now?

Fingers crossed, I just got a call from a call from a call (see, things work this way for the owner of this office) from an old firm I used to work for and they'd heard I'm between jobs (Oh, hi. Understatement.) and to call them. So I left a message.

Gonna keep my salad fingers crossed. Even if its only contract work for now, hey, work is work.
And I'm getting tired of being on "vacation".  [bacon]
