Yah, kinda. More of a hardening issue & very random. Unlike the, "oh, you have an 03 999?....do yourself a favor & shoove it off a cliff".

Nobody said that I did. Everyone says that I would.

So, is there anything happening with the project at this moment? Or is it on hold for the time being?

The frame is finishing being fabricated, parts are still being acquired, and the motor has yet to be started being built...

In my haste to post up this afternoon, I forgot to add this:  [cheeky]

Sorry for any confusion.

I got the  [cheeky] without  you putting the  [cheeky] part. Just don't want the other founding flounders to get up your skirt for our "free range posting'".
And now that I look a bit more, seems you separated the two... I think/guess/maybe/have no make the beast with two backsin' clue.

Being someone that's not big into  :D  ;)  :P  [laugh]  [clap] ...Please use one, or all here :-*

Although progress is slow, when anything does come up...  It's quite nice.  Lower shock mounts machined, awaiting the pretty tig welding.

Rear wheel used for this mock-up photo session is off of a Sport-Classic 5.5" with a 180/55/17 on it.  I'll be rolling a 17"x4.25" with either a 160/60/17 or a 150/60/17 depending on how it looks....

BTW, my personal reaction to these photos is:  [drool]

Can't blame you ;) Like the shock mount/frame reinforcement [thumbsup]

Was just looking through some of my photos and noticing the dates they were taken....

This particular re-build (#4 for this bike) is already over 3 years in the works.   [roll]  Someday I'll learn that it's more fun to ride them than cut them apart...  Oh well, won't be long now!  [moto]

Gotta dig a buncha that, Guvnah.  What did you guys decide about the vertical member?

Vertical support straight up from the rear motor mount to the upper tube.  It's the least offensive, and structurally strongest w/o adding add'l tubing.

Yeah, having held that aluminum round tube swinger in my hand...I've gotta say, she's one of the lightest Duc swingarms I've EVER held in my hand...  Next heaviest (CF arms notwithstanding) would be the 749/999S&R arm like what's on RatFink's 749S.  Those look massive, but are soooooo light.  ;)
