Look what i got for Fathers day

After the last Sydney ride a couple months back up the Putty Road, I knew that I had allot to learn... so my 18 month daughter logged onto Amazon and bought me this for Fathers day.



Role on smoothly through corners, coutersteering and knowing my SRs are all part of my new mantra!

I am now also thinking about adding the Californian Superbike Schools at Eastern Creek to my Santa wish list  :)

On another (off topic) note: Rod620 update
- I passed my P's... the second time after failing the first go trying to do it on the Monster  [bang] So when I went back I used their bike and passed...  [clap]
- I got my bike's 20k serviced at d'Moto by George. He said the bike's fuel mixture was soo rich that it did not even register on the measure, which may explain why I ran outta fuel. After riding outta there the bike also had about ten times more power, which scared the crap out of me!

Excellent news Rod.

Superbike School is a great experience, many of us here have done at least one level.
D-Moto are very good and yes how rich your bike was running had a lot to do with why you ran out of fuel.
Especially that the fuel hungry ones made it through the day.

If you haven't read the thread called "The Pace" it is also a great philosophy.

Congrats on the P's' test [thumbsup]

With the issue on the bike running rich.
If your bike is fuel injected i would also get the position of the fuel pump pickup checked in side the fuel tank as to run out of fuel at 160k it would  appear to be more than running rich?
The fuel pump is in side the tank and may not be installed in the correct position. :-\

i thought 160km mileage is about right... its what i get

Not saying that you are wrong Rob ... but it was that rich I am not surprised by the fuel consumption - fuel was practically dripping off the exhaust tips [cheeky]

Congrats on the Ps Rod. I have found Code's books pretty difficult to read, but the second one is the better from memory. Definitely got more out of the School than the books too ;D

... and then she fills up despite the light not being on (just in case the light is faulty) ... and yes, she is still faster than me [bow_down]. New intake may change things though - will be interesting to see if there is an effect on economy.

I rekon if i lose 10-15kg i could get an extra 30kms a tank :)

Appologies for the thread jacking here again, but I just wanted to quick reply, and did not feel it warranted another thread...

RE: d'moto fule mixture fix, timing belt + 20k service on my 2005 620 LAMs.
Key improvements were-
1. fuel economy: yes easily above 220k's per fillup now. Last time I measured on fillup was about 20k's per litre (city riding)
2. power: 10x more would not be an overstatement. So much so, I actually put the throttle restricter back on (it was off for putty rd and I could not keep up)
3. hotter running: my fuel gauge says the engine runs hotter temp now, from memory it would never run over 90c prior to servicing and take ages to get to 50c

i know im dragging this further off topic too, but mine only gets about 150km per tank in my 800 and the temp sits about 100-107 in use. in crawling traffic its gotten upto 127 before i thought f'it and took to the less used parts of the street. i couldnt even fit between the cars on that road.

when i get my new inlet setup running i think ill take it somewhere to check the tune like rod did.

and not being a father thats about all i can contribute to this thread!! :)

Either bike being it an m800 or an S2R800 you should be getting more from it than that.
I would say it's in serious need of a tune, 150 k's from a tank is what you'd normally see from a 4v monster note a 2v bike.

Go and see one of the trusted mechanics we all use, personally mine goes to D-Moto and has been seen by George at his
previous shop before that.
