Holy cow!!!

I couldn't even watch the whole thing.  He didn't even look like he was "clipped in" for parts.

I guess if you did it all the time you would get desensitized to the height.

Not for me.

There was a great video (I think it was on an old thread) about guys who work off helicopters and climb onto very high power lines then they crawl on the lines while working on them hundreds of feet in the air. Oh yeah, the fun part was the gazillion volts of electricity passing through the lines and yet the workers did not get electrocuted. I forget the reason they don't get zapped but the narrator explains it. Anyone remember that vid or thread?
I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

Never saw that one but it probably has something to do with touching only one wire.

Like how birds can sit up there and not cook.

I found the video on youtube but I can't make it work as a link. [bang] Look for the High Voltage Cable Inspection vid on youtube. Interesting explanation in the video regarding the worker not being zapped. You're some what right about the bird on the wire comment.

Kinda ironic that a freeclimber died due to a rope failure.  :P

OT, ummm....no, I'd not like that job.
No heights for me.

I tell ppl that I'm not afraid of heights.
Now that I see this, I'll rephrase that I'm not afraid of heights that I've been on.
But I noticed that my palms were getting sweaty with apprehension when I viewed this video.
I would worry most about my 1) endurance, 2) the structural integrity of the object that I was climbing, 3) birds, and lastly 4) the wind.

I am not afraid of the video that was removed.  [cheeky]

I'm pretty ok with heights having stood on the railings of a 90ft lift to reach something while it swayed back and forth.
I'm also regularly of the top of hi rises, often going up a bit higher if the top of a cooling tower isn't recessed into the roof a bit.
