<non religious thread>

Just as we have Merry Christmas threads for our Christian Members, I wanted to wish a Happy Yom Kippur to our Jewish Member's which is often considered their holiest holiday of the year, just like Christmas for Christians.

Hope everyone has a great day of non-work and great family time  [thumbsup]

Just wanted to wish my good friend Tizzy on his holiest day of the year like us Christians wish each other a Merry Christmas.

I will lock this thread on account it appears to have crossed the religion line.

Happy Yom Kippur to Tizzy and our Jewish Members.

Sorry for the lock. wasn't sure what Chris's first line meant and thought I crossed the border.

I am going to eat breakfast now  ;D

(just kidding!)

Happy day of atonement and repentance.

I should probably follow suit.

Cyrus - you're heart is definitely in the right place. Yom Kippur is a day of atonement and introspection. It's thinking about wrongs you've done and working on making amends/being a better person. That's a simplification, but is the holiday in essence. It's not a joyful gathering like Christmas, so that's why "happy" might have been a bit odd.

Isn't Easter the most important holiday in Christianity?

Growing up the Jewish kids I knew always treated it as their "new year"

As you look for forgiveness for sins from the previous year.

Others might have different views of it, especially those that are Jewish, that is just the way it was viewed where I grew up.

Happy might not have been the best word to use.

Last thursday was the new year (rosh hashanah). Still, it's never uncool to consider other people, so I still think it was a good thread to start.

Just thought I originally crossed the line posting a religious thread.

I could very well be confused on the holidays, my apologies to those who are Jewish.

Yesterday was the fast with A break the fast meal last night after temple services.

It's a day to atone for your sins and lighting a remembrance candle for those that have passed.

It's also " happy new year".

I'm in NYC now with my wife, who is Jewish, and her family.

Now we are off to Port Jefferson fir a sweet 16 party!!  Did someone say OPEN BAR!!

Does Sweet and Open Bar really belong in the same sentence?
