Don't I owe you a  [drink]

And i owe him a steak... the kind of steak that comes with a side plate of .... well, you know..... steak....

So Andy, all you need is someone to owe you some fuel, and it'll be a cheap day...

Is this the infamous Andy55 Taralga steak by any chance?

Two dogs

Had a little dog training day this morning
up the old road with the cheese n kisses .
Road was empty and dry and only a spatering of old mates [leo]

Both dogs did very well with their new owners.
Mine is a little head strong and cranky...........needs a tight lead  ;D.

The old dog enjoyed its new owner and behaved very well, both mongrels
came home for a good bath and feed.

So all going well they should be in good shape for this next group outing and behave themselves ,cant say the same for their trainers  [evil]

Maybe Jukie should bring her whips and chains to keep them in order. ;D

OK, so just to get a better idea of where we are at ...

Signora Monster (posted but off topic)

Awesome, numbers are looking upward of twenty ... and there is still plenty of time for more to jump on board [thumbsup]

Yes Betty, completely off topic! Count me in, cos Betty said so.  [roll]

And please add Nickati to the list. I'm sure he won't mind.  [thumbsup]

Awesome, numbers are looking upward of twenty (approaching 30 :o 8)) ... and there is still plenty of time for more to jump on board [thumbsup]. Matty you had better bring the wide angle lens.

For someone that knows the route and our intended lunch venue ... are these sort of numbers likely to create a problem? I am in no way trying to dissuade anybody from attending ... lets make it huge!

Considering the number of riders I think we should give some serious thought to how we might handle things. The beauty of this group is that we largely know 'our place' ... by that I mean most people know where they are in the 'pace' pecking order. We don't normally have mass overtaking maneuvres, in fact we don't see much overtaking at all ... which makes things less intimidating and infinitely safer. It is a social ride after all.

All this is good but we do end up getting strung out a bit - not a problem, as such, but waiting times can get a bit long for the quicker peoples. Although it might take a bit of organising I propose we consider two or more groups for this one. That way we won't have a big group waiting in the sun (hopefully) for everybody to arrive at every junction.

With everybody meeting at the same place for the start, lunch and maybe fuel ... with the smaller groups re-grouping at the junctions along the way. Let me know if you think this can work (or if its a completely shithouse idea) so we can come up with a plan ... and hopefully no one will get lost this time.

We will obviously need a few more people to ride point and tail (for the sub-groups) if this is the way we go ... so give it some thought and let us know :)

J5

just had a chat to the pub for lunch at oconnell pub, she says they have a couple of functions on but will be able to accomodate us , may take some time with lunch but hey got all day i guess , or failing that we could go to tarana instead for lunch

grouping

head up bells there is no where to get lost and have a regroup at bell turnoff (good spot for a leak or smoke )

head along to mt vic at speed limit as cops get along there so no drama with getting lost

from there its a turn right and down the hill and a turn off to jenolan caves all the way to the caves

prob have a regroup there and then out the other side all the way into oberon

fuel there which will take some time obviously

head to end of town and turn right iirc out to oconnell pub

same going home there is a couple of places to regroup, no real turn offs to get lost at
i dont care if you have been a mechanic for 10 years doing something for a long time does not make you good at it, take my gf for an example shes been walking for 28 years and still manages to fall over all the time.

mattyvas

Excellent idea Betty.

With the numbers on the last run up to see Claudio for lunch I tried to suggest this but it was very late and we didn't really stick to it.

Couple of thoughts to add to what you've said.
Yes I agree two groups is a great idea but we can't all be in the slow group, when it was pitched last time everyone wanted to be in the slow(er) group. People have to think of their own pace and how comfortable they are with the other people that will be out for the day.

Each group will need a lead and sweep to keep a count on numbers, there are not many places to get lost along the way riding out there. May I also suggest that when it comes to re-grouping that people stay on there bikes waiting for the numbers to arrive and be ready to move off again. Helmets offs and chin wagging at mid points will extend the day.

Great thinking too J5 to call the pub where we are planning on going to see if they can handle us (roudy crowd), I'm sure we are all happy to get over to Tarana instead. Seems as though you have knowledge of the places, do you want to see if they can fit us in.

Should we get an idea before the day of who's riding where?
I'll bring the 17mm and maybe the 300mm so we can get a long shot also.

Two dogs

Sounds like a good plan J5
May I make a suggestion about fueling ,
after the last big group ride watching the
cluster make the beast with two backs of twenty bikes filling and paying
how about every one has  say $15 ?  ready in cash,
fill your tank and pass the cash to the rider next in line last guy gets to either pay
the bill or do a Ned Kelly  ;D
Now who wants to be last ?

mattyvas

yep good one too Dez.
Some of us did that on the last group ride fueling up at the end of the Putty.

My 2cents :-\
While i am still only a maybe, as precious has gone back to the repairers, and still having nightmares about crashing through another bike at 100kph :o
And possibly of to Tazzi for 2 weeks about then,  now Bazz has left the place it is safe to go there. [roll]

May i suggest that changing our regular meet point from Rouse hill will confuse a few that aren't switched on. ??? ??? (Dez)
And the last Bells ride the route Nickati took us up the start of the putty road then hooked a left up Kurmond rd to Kurmond the right on to Bells line
Not a bad little detour. [thumbsup]

And while stopping at Bell is good for the guys no facility's for the ladies. :'(
Probably best to continue the 12klm to Mt Vic and stop at the caltex servo for fuel for the dreaded s4rs and a comfort stop for the ladies :P

mattyvas

All good points Rob.
We have met at Richmond in the past, it is a good start point also. It maybe makes for on less fuel stop (for me) anyway.
I do remember that detour, it is a great way of getting further up the hill and traffic.
