Hope your use to not sleeping. Or you could get lucky, unlike us, and it'll sleep all throughout the night...  my baby girl is 7 months now gets hungry at 139 am an 5 am,  sometimes in between.  All ready she starting to stand on her own and sprouting a tooth soon.. oh yea, teething.. makes the crying, both amount and sound 10 times worse..  but when she laughs and smiles when you enter the room it makes 100 times better..

Oh yea, they cock block like no other...

Try to feed her as much as she wants to 4 hours before her bed time. Then put her to sleep (assuming she's sleeping in her own crib and bedroom). If she cries, let her cry, she should be able to sleep through the night after 1-2 bad nights (meaning crying out loud for a long time) for 10-12 hours. I did this with my second one when she's 4 months old, and she only had 1 bad night then she's been sleeping 10-12 hours at night. If you have a baby monitor on, turn it off (while doing the training). I got this tips from my RN friend who does baby sleeping trainer at people's houses. The training was easy for me cause' I was at work and my husband did it. Good luck.
Oh....about the cock block....hmmmm....nothing I can do about it. ;D

Well...... My fiancé is 19 weeks pregnant now. This will be our first. It's exciting and terrifying at the same time. Every day is something new. She is growing, farting, eating, and more emotional than ever.... Ita hard sitting there watching her enjoy ritz crackers, sharp cheese, carrots, and chocolate ice cream al mixed together and I CAN'T say a word about it.

Perhaps some of the other guys on here have some good advice or a funny story to tell. I know that it's been a long strange trip thus far and can't wait for what is to come. Here is my story of the week.

We went to look at an apartment the other day. The owner couldn't make it but he left the door open for us to check it out. Amidst all the looking around she decides she has to drop a HUGE dooky. Luckily there was toilet paper and a plunger because she commenced to clog the toilet. All the while I'm standing out there listening to her laugh and cry all at the same time. There was no fan. It was brutal. We bailed just in the nick of time as another couple was showing up to check it out. I don't think I'll ever forget that.

Anybody else have any funny stories or good advice?

Congrats!!!

Very good advice!  We let all three of my kiddos follow a similar routine.....I don't know who cried more, my wife or the kids.  All three children were sleeping 8 hours every night within 3 months old.  Self soothing is an important skill for the critters.

It's a vital skill for the "blocked" dad!  Unless of course he is lucky enough to have a woman that "gets it"......that's a whole other thread.

Good Luck!

The only good thing about babies R us is all the stuff you register for, if you don't get it, you get 10% off everything. Gift registry + baby shower is the best way to go for stuff. But it seems like on items like car seats/strollers, they're pretty much the same price across the board.
Of all the things you can get used, don't get a car seat. Good luck with the adventure, it's pretty cool getting everything ready.

Babies R Us registry was the most exhausting thing I've done in a very long time! We hit up the strollers, car seats, cribs, pack and plays, height chairs, swings, electronic things that do this and that, things that light up and make noise, more cribs and dressers, bed sets, cribs again, diapers, back to the strollers and then to the car seats of course and then she sees a different pack and play so back to the bed sets and then back to the cribs to change that........ It was fun for the first 20 minutes with the laser gun but she kept zappin' things off.

On a good note, we found out that we are having a boy and decided on the name Mason Wesley Rapp. She is 26 weeks along now and doing pretty well. She tosses and turns like crazy at night. It's a good thing 'cause she is preparing me for getting up in the middle of the night and I am NOT good at that.

I think I knocked out all of those things in about 20 min bursts, so...

I didn't even know BBB had a baby registry ???
