Just got my bike back from AMS after it's 24k service... Woo-whoo, nothing like a well-tuned Duc!

Got to ride to work for the first time in forever!!  I missed being able to pass people so easily.

And I only had to stop twice to clean off the inside of my face shield, Muskrat.   

(from making my own engine noises due to a lack of aftermarket exhaust goodness...)

Almost got taken out by a pair of deer today.  I saw the first one dart in front of me - left to right - but I was able to miss her without too much drama. Then all of a sudden my horizon is nothing but deer fur... Didn't even have a chance to hit the brakes.  I knew I was toast but just as soon as the deer was there, it was gone.  Couldn't have missed me by more than an inch or two.  Alan was about three bike lengths back - figured he'd be picking up the pieces.

And just a note about the circumstances; 2pm, 70 degrees, middle of suburbia with moderate neighborhood traffic in both directions... about two miles from our house.  While we do see deer on rare occassion in our neighborhood, we've never seen them in this particular spot (lots of houses and consistent traffic) and never at 2 in the afternoon!  K-RAZY!

You don't want to be known as the deer slayer. Trust me. Thank goodness you missed that one! A large deer can cause a lot of damage to a car much less a bike. And its' rider! My first wife and I were staying in Fredericksburg years ago and ate dinner at a place 10-11 miles outside of town. On the way back we came upon a wreck. We were maybe the 2nd-3rd car to stop. The pick up driver that crashed was a young doctor from Kerrville and he had tried to dodge a deer crossing the road and crashed into a huge oak tree on the shoulder and died. It was witnessed by the car behind him. I'll never forget it. Deer on the shoulder or crossing in front of me have scared the shit out of me ever since.

Some guy on the Multistrada.net board hit a deer with his MTS 1200 and didn't go down. He was extremely modest about the feat, but judging from the pictures, the impact tore half the fairing off the bike.

I didn't notice whether he had the Ohlins or the Showa forks.

One of the AMS customers hit one in Colorado and stayed up. Took off the left side plastics and such but not much else

Police bikers are told to drive through the deer and on several occasions I've talked to people say they have done just that and stayed upright.
