Thought about the same thing. This is my first bike though, plenty fast for me. Besides, I can keep up with most higher end sport bikes in the curves where it matters most to me. Cost was low enough to give me some room to customize it to my liking. 1100 didn't have the color options I liked either, the 1100 Evo however is a different story, ducati did well IMO by listening to customers and putting a nicer looking 1100, still wish they did a true underseat exhaust like the 1098. Anyways, moral of the story, i love my 696, I'll keep it forever :)

yeah im in the same boat, 696 = first bike = fast enough

but with left wishing for more oomf with the wife sitting pillion

and more sexiness of the sss, = 1100

maybe by fall they will be more prevelant around 8k used. (7k please?)

That's in the pipeline, years down the road. A new bike altogether might alter that conversion decision. And a dry clutch is not gonna happen...love the eye candy, hate the sound.

A couple updates: The tank panels are being painted to be a gloss and matte black combo. As well as the short tail kit is black now to blend in.

Haven't seen anyone apply this to the 696 yet, but i take it you have?

also

how can you hate the sound of the dry clutch?  [laugh] its like  [bacon]

xskiervh

It's been done with a 999 engine I believe. Anythings possible ;)

The dry cluth, hmm it's like... where's the icon for nuts and bolts in a food blender.  [laugh]
I dunno, just not my cup of tea.

Speedmoto sportbike clip-ons arrived. Tank panels painted. Just waiting for speedymoto top triple...clipons will be mounted above the triple after I lower the front end some(1/2inch?). OEM ducati decals and exhaust to to be delivered soon as well.

Well the boomtubes were here and gone. I had to send a part back to be fixed. One of the baffles was sticking in too far and blocked part of the hole where the lambda sensor screws into. And speaking of the lambda sensor, with this system you will need longer lambda sensor cables in order to reach the exhaust. This can be fixed by either ordering longer cables from a company that's out of stock at the moment, or by soldering some extensions on myself. Mark @ Motocreations decided to take care of this issue as well.

Very nice rear sets those [thumbsup].  I especially like the black ones and if I didnt have what I already have I'd take those off your hands, no worries.
