what brand light weight rotors are you all using?
ive heard of the "braking" brand rotors, but can only find one US supplier and they arent really that cheap.

OEM , manufactures invest milloins to create the right balance rotors for your bike. IMO there is nothing better and cost effective than OEM.I have pushed my OEM rotors and pads petty hard almost to the point of glowing and they have never let me down still stop on a dime . I have tried the race pads and i can tell you, not as good IMO .stick with the OEM you cant go wrong  [thumbsup]
If I wasn't who i was, I wouldn't be who I am !

i appreciate the response, but im looking at options to replace my current rotors as opposed to using spacers with my current rotors.

a related question, the 748r rotors have the same diameter and bolt pattern as my current rotors and they have the 15mm offset i need as opposed to 10mm of my current monster rotors, all positive, yet the thickness is 4.5mm as opposed to 5mm. will the 0.5mm thickness be an issue at all?

also does anyone here know if the pad contact patch on the 749r rotors is the same as the monster rotor? just checking if it will be fine to use my 2 pad 4 pot callipers with the 748r rotors as the 748r rotors are originally designed for the radial callipers.

Thanks for any advice!!
Cheers Clint

+1 with you Dock!

I asked the same question of the guys that service my bike - they also have done work on race bikes as well - their response was go OEM - they have the right thickness etc.  They have had customers come in with aftermarket rotors complaining about front end shudder or warping of discs only after a short time, and this is street bikes we are talking about.  ;D

not all OEM stuff is top drawer, i wouldn't reccomend the cheap crap fitted to S2R800 for example, the calipers are weak, too small etc. my S4R had stainless brembos as std and are notorious for warping, i replaced them with cast iron brembo full floating rotors though. that said, there's some seriously good aftermarket stuff available, braketech, braking, both excellent products, it's guys that try and skimp on cheap tat that looks all shiny and anodised and looks pretty that come unstuck.

i can get a set of new second hand galfers for less than the braking ones off that site. how do the galfers rate? rrp is higher than the braking and i have seen the name about a lot more than braking.

so i spose im asking for good/bad stories about them. or any further advice.

Cheers Clint.

I put a set of motomaster disks on  http://www.moto-master.com/products.php?catid=18#

I needed new disks and I liked the look of them so that was probably the main reason I bought them.
But, they are actually very good! brake performance is noticeably improved!

I went with these ones when I did my 300mm to 320mm upgrade. S3. Got them from a guy in Melb on ebay. No problems so far but I don't use them much. Brakes only slow you down.

i decided to go with the galfers. i got an unused second hand pair in the size and offset i need for the sbk conversion for $400 delivered. i dont think i could beat that price even on lower quality rotors!

Thanks again for your comments and opinions.
