Today I finally had some good news.
My father has been in a coma in hospital in America.
He was diagnosed with West Nile fever , a horrible mozzie delivered
virus originating in Africa now spreading around the world.
He has eaten for the first time in two weeks and took his first steps today.
Most people over 50 do not survive this virus,he turned 86 in August and was married for the fifth
time just before the virus got him. Luckily he is a strong fit man with a taste for good scotch and fine women
this obviously added in his recovery.  [laugh]

We take life and good health for granted and it is a stark reminder of how short and bumpy this ride can be.
Enjoy your weekend everyone stay safe and well. [thumbsup]

Dez, when you hear good shit like that it makes you realise how mortal we all are, but gee, your old man must be immortal.

Always good to hear news like that.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. [bow_down]

On a totally unrelated topic..............back to motorcycles.
Today I gave the old 695 now the Missus ride a bit of Mc lovin.
The OEM belt covers were starting to look a bit weathered and grey
so I gave them the DIY dye treatment .
After a good degrease and clean
I bottle of RIT black liquid dye $7.50  two kettles of boiling water and a
a soak overnight in the laundry bucket , they came up a treat.
The plastic absorbs the dye ,better than paint as it is easy to scratch
reinstalling the covers.
Hosed them off rubbed them with a spray of WD40 and they have
gone from dull grey to dark black matching perfectly to the original
colour. [thumbsup]

Well, Dez, I'll see your dyed belt covers and raise you removed handlebar mounts...

But of course you can't do that, because you use trailbike bars.

Dez, reckon you could run me through what you did?
Did it leave any stain on the laundry bucket?
You left them in there for 10 hours!?

Hi. I’m Troy McClure. You may remember me from such self-help tapes as “Smoke Yourself Thin” and “Get Some Confidence, Stupid!”
NYTimes: "...highlights of his global tour include encounters with Nelson Mandela, an 800-year-old demigod and a dildo collector."
