Hi all,

I'm looking to get some bargains online on gear by purchasing from US suppliers i.e. visor, boots, jacket - can anyone suggest a couple of reputable suppliers.

I've used locox.com and motosport.com... locox for apparel and motosport for tires.

Hi. I’m Troy McClure. You may remember me from such self-help tapes as “Smoke Yourself Thin” and “Get Some Confidence, Stupid!”

Pretty sure I got my SIDI boots through motorcycle superstore or something like that, be prepared for two week delivery as stuff coming through OZ customs takes a while. ( got a couple of things recently, one from Germany, another from Hong Kong)

Nice but be careful about international warranty, Canon might not want to extend you the curtsy of warranty if it's not an Aussie purchased product!
Just saying.
You should check out www.digitalcamerawarehouse.com.au

Only thing to worry about (other than warranty), is to keep your total purchase UNDER $1,000.
If its over, customs will have a field day & you'll be charged the additional import duties & GST, rendering the international purchase benefits redundant.

Good luck otherwise !!
I've bought practically everything from OS.

its only partly thread jacking because its partly on topic.....

Rod, is the Canon 7D significantly cheaper from Amazon?

I have been looking at the 550D. A local camera specialist has the twin lens kit for less than $1300. I can't see the same kit much cheaper from the US especially when its over the $1000 threshold which will incur all kinds of taxes.

the exchange rate at the moment and the rediculous prices local bike shops charge mean that even with the 10% import duty and customs inspection fee ($40 i think?) it's still well worth buying on line (so screw you gerry harvey!) having said that i hate tax so i would definitely keep each parcel under 1k

I agree, I mean;
my Dainese jacket here = $899, on the net = $400, shipped to my door.
Dainese pants here = $700, on the net = $350, shipped to my door.
Tons of carbon fibre, mirrors & other bling bits = similar results.

Just keep it all under $1,000.

Bugger...

"Hello Nugget Head,

I apologize for the inconvenience, but due to new Shoei regulations, we are unable to send Shoei products out of the U.S.  If you do have a alternate address that is located in the USA that we can ship the order to, please provide me with the alternate address.  If not, please let me know if there is a different item that you would like, and I will be happy to make the change to your order."

This sux eggs - ordered a SHOEI CX-1V SPECTRA Visor and now this - Has anyone experienced this yet? Now I'll have to do some convincing or find a person to ship on to me.

Thought it seemed all to easy  [thumbsdown]

hmmm, i use them all the tme with no trouble at all, i've not bought a helmet though, due to the lack of australian compliance more than anything else, but that does suck.

Yeh - I was surprised. If I was an Aussie retailer I would be worried. I don't really think its a compliance issue, rather marketing and distribution of product more likely. Some national retailers may boycott whoelsale purchases of brands if they figure out marketting techniques (in this case the strength of the Oz $) is being pushed by OS retailers. Its interesting that motosport.com (a US hosted website) is flying the Aussie flag on their homepage - are these guys based in OZ or the US? Regardless, next time I will email before hand to confirm specific shipping details for individual products - some great bargains to be had - I'm sure it won't last forever.
