Skydiving...

So I've spent most of the day researching an old hobby of mine (skydiving), and have decided that when I get back to the states I'm going to pick up where I left off 5 years ago.  I've got nine jumps under my belt and was working towards my "A" license when life got in the way.

Now that I'm going to be single again, I figured I'd spend some of my hard earned deployment pay on getting back into the only other hobby I've tried that can hold a flame to riding (it might even surpass it).

Anyone else here share my passion?

Wife surprised me for my BDay back in Feb with my first skydive but I haven't had a chance to redeem it yet. Hoping to get down to Eloy soon though!  Thinking I might just yet it once though to say I did it. Glad to see you're making plans though to have some fun!

Yea, it is a little expensive to get started... but there are ways around that (buying used gear, etc...).  I figure that the worst case scenario is that I spend 10K on skydiving gear instead of 10K on a new 30K truck... between the two, I think the skydiving is a smarter investment.

I love my monster, so I don't really need another bike right now.  There are a few mods I'd like to do, but nothing I really need. I could buy a few more guns, but at the end of the day, they spend most of their time in the safe.

If I get decent skydiving gear, it will last me for years.  I think that starting to skydive again will be a good way for me to get out, meet new people, and work on starting to enjoy life again.  Between riding and jumping, hopefully I won't be spending all of my time at home drinking by myself.

Hey, Adam, you do know your employer will pay you to jump out of airplanes, don't you?  [evil] ;D

You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

I'd jump at the chance to go (no pun intended), but hitting the ground at 12 mph has a tendency to make the beast with two backs up your knees and back.  I happen to like the way mine currently function.  Besides, static line pales in comparison to freefall.  I had the chance while I was in California to jump from 18,000 feet.  That's 90 seconds of backflips, barrel rolls, forward tracking, and more fun than you can possibly imagine.  Doing a low altitude "Hop and Pop" with a full combat load is much less appealing.

Maybe that's why I just don't get it.  (after 7, I had enough)

And, only two things fall from the sky...  ;D

I have 4 screws in my left ankle from a full combat equipment night jump some years back.

I have also seen massive injuries while skydiving. Even watched a guy burn in one day.
