New rider & soon to be 659 owner

G'day, Andrew from Sydney, have been admiring with envy the posts from new 659 owners. After many years of stuffing around finally got around to getting my licence and am now awaiting delivery of  my 659.

Nothing I have read so far has left me with any doubt this is a great bike, look forward to hearing more reviews

I think you're the first owner of the 659 to post. Folks will be curious about this bike. It's mostly the same as the 696 right? Just lower power engine to comply with tiered licensing rules?

Here (the US) this model isn't available as our laws don't restrict new riders selection of ride (for better or worse) so there's no call for Ducati to export them to our shores.
