Think they've finally found a place to put the blinker fluid reservoir that it won't get so hot it cooks?

Never wrestle with pigs. You both get dirty, and the pigs like it...

Um....  This is what we were holding our breath for?  A "Monster designed for the Asian market"  with all those glaring, significant differences that set it apart from the 796...?  ??? ???
I don't own a Ducati...but I wrench on one.

Travman

Other than the name, what is the difference?  I did not see any differences in the pics or tech section.

It's basically a 696 with the 796 engine... that's the difference, if that counts.
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

Good eye. I didn't even notice the dual sided swingarm.

I'm not clear how this warranted even being produced or marketed differently...  It would seem the smaller displacement of the 696 would be better suited for the Asian market...  Also, I am pretty sure you could get a 796 over there if you wanted to...

Yep... I'm confused as to why this exists. Other than to fill a price point gap, that doesn't need to be filled btween the 696 and 796 I cannot tell why they made it.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

If it is made for asia, will it be made in asia?

1a) It might be produced in Asia
1b) There might be tariffs for bikes not made in some of those markets, hence 1a.

Raux

Wasn't there talk of a factory in asia already?

thought

i thought the factory in thailand was confirmed.

well, to be clearer, not so much of a factory, but more like a assembly plant

I don't know about other countries, but i can say for India that no bike under 800 cc can be imported without running into major homologation hassle. That was the reason no 696 was launched in India when Ducati came.
