I just got these in the mail.  Do i need to now get a pin to go through and connect them.  And if so, can you point me in the right direction on which one and where to get it.  this is for a Ducati monster 696 2011.  thanks.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

it allows you to use them as sliders and also spools for a pit bul rear stand spool style(which i already have).  i just thought it would automatically come with the pin...it did not.  so not sure i need one or not.

sent them an email...just thought i'd throw the question out on here also.  usually get responses here alot quicker.

Kind of a niche product, imho.  The track spools I've used go into the swingarm directly, but I guess the axle is fine.

FYI if they are going into the rear, they aren't "fork" spools.

ok...my bike "words" sometimes aren't correct.  as you can see by the pic of the sliders....the sliders go into that "hole"...the "hole" goes all the way thru...to me, it just seems that there should be a pin that connects the sliders since the "hole" goes all the way thru.

are they intended to remain on the bike when you're not using the stand?

i've put a bolt into each side of the axle hole of my SS bike to park it on the stand in my garage, but i don't leave them there.

you can pick up a threaded rod at home depot and cut it down to size and bolt it on the ends.  won't be metric, but that doesn't matter for this.

yes they are meant to stay on as sliders...its just how they are made, they double as spools for rear stands also.  it's all i little ridiculous as it seems with everything that i buy for this bike, there's no info that another product needs to be bought so that the product you just bought will work(hahahaha)...i am learning,  [bang]

You should have gotten a through-bolt.

If you didn't, maybe/probably they sent you a kit for swingarm bolt-on application

i thought so...i'm emailing with them as we speak.  they seem to know less than me, which is scary.  got it thru Twisted Throttle.com, the dude said he has to contact R&G to see what else i need, if anything. ugh

tlh235

this is the email i got back: (can't see it but we'll see tomorrow when i get in the garage)

Terry,

Ok, the tech tells me those are expanding inserts.  They fit inside the sleeve of the axle and when the bolt is tightened, the angled insert expands to grip the inside.

i hope that insert is long, like 1.5-2" long because its going to have to support a lot of weight...

Wrong....

Their 696 fork protectors/sliders and their rear sliders/stand spools are connected by a through-rod/bolt.

The idiot who answered you doesn't know what he's talking about (so it seems).

My guess is still that you got the wrong kit.

Well i got one side on...right side.  it does seem to do what he says, stripped the other side when tightening it...not the actual bolt but the plastic spool from the screw inside(might be able to fix with some glue(what a piece of shit).... [bang]

here's what the good side looks like:
