I continued the efforts to square off my rear tyre with a ride to Kalbarri via Mullewa, with a group of 21 big Japanese touring bikes. Lots of fun. Lots of bugs. The new pipes sound nice.

There were no fuel stops from Mullewa to Kalbarri, a distance of 223km. 30km out from Kalbarri my fuel light came on. I took it a bit easier from then, and made it into town with the bike starting to run rough.

Some of the places we visited around Kalbarri were a good 5-6km off the bitumen, so there was plenty of sand riding. The side stand doesn't work so well on sand, so I found a good use for the sole from a mate's boot:

Geez Suzy ... what speeds were you travelling at to have a 695's fuel light come in at ~190km?

What did I do to my Monster today?

Walked past it to take the StupidBike for a spin. It has been a bit short of electricity lately ... so the Boss fixed that and we went took the big bikes for a short ride.

Squeezed a two hour ride to Yarra Glen into a busy day.

On the way home there were two distinctly unfriendly riders (one on a fireblade, one on a Buell 1200) who did their level best to ignore me at a half a dozen set of lights.  [thumbsdown]

It just wasn't cricket on Australia Day! >:(

In any case, I had a great ride, beautiful weather, bike ran smooth and sweet.

Happy Australia Day all!  [beer]

Picked up the bike the Sat before Aus Day, I had some removable baffles inserted into the custom pipes to keep [leo] at bay, like the cylindrical baffles that came with the Termi's.

The sound is certainly quieter at idle, I can just hear the clutch rattle now and it's more throaty and twin-esque at throttle, less track bike bark. The net effect is I now have to get the PC5 remapped to allow for the increased exhaust back pressure which is making the idle too slow and back to being jerky at low revs. Probably running lean again like it was with the Termis's prior to the PC5 being fitted. The bills never stop.

Oh, I finally paid the f*cker off! Take a hike Capital Finance...
