I want to reshape my seat foam recover it

I have heard of using electric knife... That sounds
Long and tedious.
I was think about a small belt sander.

What the pros use?
My people skills are just fine.

Oh, goody!
I get to share one of my favorite mods!

I've rehaped the seats of probably 15 or so bikes. It's so easy and so worth it!
I've tried all the tools - bread knife, 4.5" grinder, belt sanders, etc.
Nothing works as well as in this video.

I use a coarse hacksaw blade in a hacksaw frame for initial cuts. Gives a nice straight cut. (I like my seats flat)

Use a fine magic marker to make a grid on the foam for referance as you go. I use a coarse belt sander belt by hand to finish the foam (ridges, etc will show thru vinyl)

THIS GUY is the Master !.............

I used a segregated bread knife to reshape the seat foam for my wife.  I made a huge mess in the living room...

for some reason, that video makes me hungry for some gyro.

Yeah, shaving a seat down is a messy job....very dusty!!!
Reminds me of when I use to surf & had boards shaped...fiberglass is the worst!!

Well I started on my project seat today....That guy in the video sure makes it look like the foam he is working with is made out of butter!!
I started with a hacksaw blade but it ripped the foam somewhat...so from the rough cuts...I have just been using a small "rough" belt sander belt.
The seat is taking a good shape....but it's a slow process. :-\
