M796 Custom Tail Chop

I wasn't too sure about a full fender elimination so I've done a custom semi-tail chop.  Because I prefer more visible bling at the back rather that less, I used a Radiantz LED plate holder, looks like this............   
And for the purists out there, no thank you, I don't want to ride a Goldwing

with the plate sitting vertical like that, are there any concerns over the rear tire hitting it?

Gak! Thanks for raising the question.  The bottom of the licence plate is exactly 2 1/2" lower than the lowest point of the ABS fender.  At the time I thought that was OK, now I'm having serious doubts.  Can't find any info on suspension travel,  I weigh about 180 with gear on, any one have any thoughts on that 2 1/2" reduction in clearance causing a serious problem?
The pictures were taken with the bike on the rear stand so there is some compression showing already.

Almost exactly look to my bike, minus the tail chop. I was wondering, for the techspec grip pads, did you have to clean the a rear with say alcohol? I have mine awaiting application

They are Techspecs and yes, the instructions tell you to wash off with either alcohol or a similar type cleanser before attaching them.  I used glass cleaner, worked fine, use a heat gun on low or a hair dryer if it's cold though.

specs on ducati's site say 5.8" of rear wheel travel... how this may apply, i'm not sure. hmmm... you could do a shakedown ride over some bumps and such to see if it'll hit.


I do recall in the past seeing some tail chops that ended up chewing plates, and my first "I can mount a sticker plate here" idea that chipped the paint from my fender under hard braking
