Welcome aboard Suzy.

Feel free to start up a thread with all your questions but it might be worth running a few searches first ... there is heaps of info in here. I find it best to have a read and ask for clarification or personal opinion if needed.

I wouldn't worry too much about this kind of thing unless it is a default skill wired into your engineering brain. If people are not adult enough to tolerate it they can filter it out in their profile.

Oh yeah, where are you from?

Many thanks for the warm welcome.  I'm from Melbourne (go pies!) but live in Sydney, in Lane Cove.

Welcome Suzyj. There's a group ride on the 11th exploring the southern regions.

It's an all day affair, but people can just do a portion of it if they wish.
It's not a full on ride. more a mix of riding and social - all abilities and experience welcome.

Check the Sydney ride thread for details:

Hi

I registered on the other site to find it strangely quiet ???...  and then I found the "we've moved" post!

I bought myself a new Monster 696 for Christmas last year after buzzing around on a CBR250RR for a few years (I'm a late starter).

My new baby is pearl white and already has lots of carbon fibre bits and pazzo levers.  Will probably do pipes when I feel the need.

I am a bit of a short arse (5'2") so the M696 was a good choice for me as it could be lowered without stuffing up the geometry or handling (unlike putting a lowering link in a CBR600RR - which was my other option).  I can't flat foot my CBR250RR - so you can imagine how I'm on tip toes with the new toy!  Just something new to get used to  :)  Picking it up off the stand on an angle still proves to be challenging though!

I'm interested in getting some custom decals done at some stage - has anyone had any experience with these??

Also, are there any good after-market mirrors?  I find the standard ones great for vision, but not so great for getting through city traffic

Hello and welcome from a fellow shorty (on a 695). Congrats on the new beast. Hope you enjoy your new(ish) ride.

Hi Girly,

Glad you found us at the not so new home, might need some of your renovation skills..... (but we really like it as is)
As to mirrors your options are endless in style and price. If you wanna drop a few hundred for a pair of Rizomas
that's about the top of the market, down to knock off cheapie's from flee-bay via China.

Pop into the Accessories & Mods and do a search on mirrors you'll find heaps of things to gawk at.

Hope you have with us here at Oz Monsters.

cheers
Matty...

Welcome Girly,

As matty said.... here's one such thread:

http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=36124.0

Other options
- bar end mirrors, CRG or Oberon for the real ones, ebay for the cheapies
- check out Rizoma as matty said

check the board sponsors - they often offer deals for members.

Thanks for the welcome guys - will have to start doing some homework on mirrors and stuff [moto]

Welcome Girly.

Yay another female from Vic.

I'm off travelling in NSW at the moment but am trying to get some people to have breakfast with me in Melbourne on Sun ?8 May (there's a thread about it)

For custom paintwork Ungeheur would be the man to ask.

Thanks Heather

Yes, there should definitely be more chicks riding bikes!

I'll have a look at the meet-up on the 8th. (but you might have to put up with my better half who has an R6 - he's yet to be converted  [laugh])

I saw that you are going to be travelling - if you haven't already, I would highly recommend picking up a copy of the Australia Motorcycle Atlas by Peter Thoeming.

Cheers

Sam

I can safely say that Heather has a copy of said atlas and it's well worn!
