Standing on the (tarped) roof of my aunt and uncle's house in Clay, Alabama... site of the most recent tornadoes. These pictures are after 5 days of cleanup.

Both of their cars, one shed and half of the roof totalled, along with the loss of the (newly completed) addition to the house... And they were the luckiest in the neighborhood.  :-\

Hug your family, and look at the roof over your head. Smile.

(The pink house in picture four was pushed forward until it met the tree in front of the house. The house is teetering on 2 supported corners. The lot behind that in the picture was such a loss they razed the house)

Hope everyone is OK P!

We were just looking at a job up on Birmingham. No thanks now. It seems like there's enough tornado activity down here in the panhandle.   Watches and warnings all day a few days ago!

I hope that they are wrong about the future weather forecasts. Last year sucked with unbearable heat and drought. Don't need to top that with severe weather this year and the damage, death and destruction it can bring. Can't we all just get along and have an uneventful, normal weather year? ;D

Hope no one in your family was injured. Things can be replaced or rebuilt. People not so much. [thumbsup]

Evil weather? Seriously? I don't think you mean it the way I understand it, but phrases like these make me think of the lunatics from Westboro Church. >:(
First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-- Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me.

The tornado season hasn't even started yet an we've had 22 in AL. It's gonna be a long year.

my mom swore by james spann.. whatever he said about the weather was gospel..

i do not miss those tornado warnings at all.. i remember when i lived there in the 90's, one took out a church in piedmont & also took out a wild animal safari that i used to go to all the time... i'll take my california earthquakes any day over a tornado...

i'm glad your aunt & uncle are relatively ok :)

I think I'm not far behind you, I barely watch our TV anymore, I only work part time, but I never have the TV on.
All Doom and Gloom, Were all gunna die, the Sky is Falling! News services, I used to be addicted to watching Television, now I can go for Days without looking at the thing.

Back on Topic:
I got tired of all the Cyclones and Flooding in Northern Australia (Queensland) every Summer, Sky Rocketing Insurance rates, weeks
being cut off due to Flooding, the up and down local Economy that went along with it. packed up the Wife and Pets and
moved 4ooo km's South to Tasmania, and been happy ever since. But we still worry about friends and Family still living back in region going through another Cyclone/Wet Season. I did that Cyclone Season Prep every Season for 30 years, only ever had to deal with 2 cyclones, but the Stress and rebuilding afterwards is beyond Measure. Thankfully you do get a heads up of days, sometimes weeks with a Cyclone, I could not Imagine dealing with a Twister, Fine and Dandy 1 minute, a destroyed house and lives only seconds later.
My thoughts are with you guys.

Tornadoes suck. Much like floods, hurricanes and volcanos not much good comes from them. I live in tornado alley in the north Texas area. Knock on wood, never have seen one. Odds are I will before I kick off. Just hope it's not because of the twister! [laugh]
