I wanted to share some pictures from trips I took over the last six months on my faithful S2R800:

Big Sur

western Utah

the Mojave

salt flats, Utah

Death Valley

salt evaporative flats, Mojave Desert

Nevada, between Tonopah and Ely

Uinta, Utah

Zion National Park, Utah

outside the Valley of Fire, Nevada

near Lone Pine, CA

Long Beach

All work on this bike has been done by Nick at Valley Ducati.

Desmosedici - it's the new Paso (except the bodywork doesn't fit as well)

That is a serious amount of seat time!  Those are some long rides in a cage!
This isn't a dress rehearsal for life - this is it!

There's nothing else like riding in the desert.

The desolation.
The solitude.
The smell.
The overwhelming sound of silence.

It's good for the soul.

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

Have you had any problems running you exhaust like that or had to modify anything? I want to do that with my s2r.

Thanks a lot for the encouragement guys  [beer]. It was my first post on DMF and I'll definitely continue to add stuff.

I've been doing it for a while now and it's been perfectly fine. Nothing had to be modified. It is quite a bit louder though, but the tail looks a lot cleaner and you can mount saddlebags on the right as well.

Those are some fantastic pics, and great destinations.

One question I had was whether you had to carry any 'reserve' gas between gas stations.  My S2R is notorious for it's limited range. . .

Yep I carry a 1 gallon jug in the saddlebag. The longest stretch with no services I've been through was between Tonopah and Ely, NV (about 170 miles). Shockingly I made it through before the reserve light even came on. A full spare jug though is great for peace of mind.

I did the exact same stretch on my 749. Had 2 extra liters with me but was able to make it.
