I was just sitting back and watching closer to the edge again.  So as I am watching it i was wondering if there was a race like this stateside, if not where do you think some of the best possible places in the US would be?

There's the Pikes Peak Hill Climb, and probably a handful of other races run on closed public roads. But I'm not sure I'd say any of them are really like the TT.

As to a great stateside place to hold something akin to the TT, I'd pick somewhere without many lawyers or insurance adjusters. Not California. ;D

there is nothing like the TT, and there wont ever be.

no way you could get anyone to start one these days, if the IOM hadn't started so early in motorcycle history it wouldn't be done today.

The road races in the UK and Ireland get by on tradition (and tourist pounds/euros/dollars). The few of them that were FIM championship races in days of yore aren't any longer (due to the obvious safety concerns), and they probably wouldn't be run at all if someone tried to start them now.
