Hi guys, Quick question I'm looking for a Monster 09-up body. I been riding for a while and own Jap Sport bike, but recently I had a Harley Iron for a while.

My First question should I get a 2009 M696 Non Abs or should I get the Newer Models 10-up which comes with Abs and safer?
The only reason is I have been seeing some used 2009 696 for some good prices. Around $6,500

2. Also for some thought how much should I pay for a M696? (New, older)Kbb retail value is around 6,300 for a 09 696)
3. I love the look of the M796 But the insurance is $800 extra for 100cc, would I be wasting money if I got a M696?

Thanks you Guys, I definitely looking to join the group this summer.

What cost impact does the ABS have on insurance? How long do you plan to keep the bike? Does the cost difference between ABS divided by the years you plan to keep the bike equal to the insurance savings?

- YOu kinda already did join. Can't post unless you did. ;D
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

Just get the biggest most powerful bike you can afford. You're an experienced rider, right? Go for it. [thumbsup]

you'll outgrow the 696 pretty fast IMO, especially have a Jap bike as you've stated.  Go for an 1100 or something like an S2/4 type.  Have you considered an older Monster with a metal tank?  Also, how does 100cc increase your insurance by $800????

My insurance went from $56/month to $121/month , when I was gettin quote for 696 vs 796. It was through geico.

try progressive but make sure if you have medical either through work on an individual policy DO NOT get it with the bike from your insurance carrier - your premiums will skyrocket if you do.

How old are you?  I pay less than $56/mo for an 1100 EVO with full coverage, and I live in San Diego, CA.

I'm 44 though and that's through USAA.

How much do you weight?
What type of riding do you typically do?
Do you carry a passenger ever?
Do you have a mod budget?

I thought mod on a monster and budget can never be used on a same sentence  ???

I blew the budget a long time ago , i have already spent 60% of what I paid for my bike on mods and its not even been a year  [bang]

Got a local shop? Different manufactures have different fit models and there's various cuts for jackets depending on the type of riding/position they are aimed at.

Though online you'll find the best prices, you can ask if the local brink n mortar will match. I know the closest one to me will price match with the online folks.

Revzilla and Sportbiketrackgear both do nice video reviews of the stuff they sell so you can get a look at details you might not be ware of from the manufactures descriptions and any draw backs that the manuf is sure not going to promote.

And yep - Webbikeworld does very detailed reviews of the stuff they get their hands on. Plus they do info/reviews beyond just gear, various mods, tools and other moto associated stuff. Good site.

Thanks you for the information about the T-rex frame slide. By any chance do they also have the metal insert like the SpeedyMoto Frame slider. Any money I can save, I can put towards the exhaust (Arrow,V&H Cs One Slips-ons)  First project is to remove that ugly Mud flap.

Yes it does have the metal rod, which will replace what you have now.
